Where do you put the power steering fluid in a chevy hhr 2006 model

Where do you add the power steeering fluid to a 2006 chevy hhr?

There is no place to do this. The 2006 HHR have Power/Electric Assist Stearing. The power stearing actually runs off the transmission. Dont sweat it. I wondered the same thing about my 2006 Cobalt. When I got my 2006 HHR I knew pretty much everything there was to know about the car.

The electric power steering (EPS) system reduces the amount of effort needed to steer the vehicle. The system uses the body control module (BCM), power steering control module (PSCM), torque sensor, discrete battery voltage supply circuit, EPS motor, serial data bus, and the instrument panel cluster (IPC) message center to perform the system functions. The PSCM, torque sensor, not the EPS motor are serviced separately from each other or from the steering column. Any EPS components diagnosed to be malfunctioning requires replacement of the steering column assembly, also known as the EPS assembly.

your vehicle does not use or need power steeering fluid . If you look up under the dash below the steering wheel you will see a electric motor on the steering shaft .

The power steering fluid resevoir is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment near the fire wall. mostimes in order to fill it you have to remove the altenator to remove the fill cap to add the fluid.

Where do you add the power steeering fluid to a 2006 chevy hhr?

If you're having power steering problems fluid is not the answer. I have a 06' HHR just started having a problem too. There is no fluid as it is electric assist and not hydraulic. The motor is located behind the knee panel just below the steering wheel. Two screws along the bottom edge release the trim panel. There is another white panel behind that secured with four screws. Once removed you will see the electric power steering motor. A somewhat easy fix if you are sure it is the motor. Loose fuses, connectors, and corroded ground wires wreak havoc with these cars and cause intermittent failures. Check all these first especially if there are no stored codes before spending bigger bucks on the motor which doesn't always fix the problem from what I've read online. -Mike-

They DO NOT have a power steering pump. This type of vehicle has an electric motor under the steering column that controls steering.

Adding power steering fluid

You do not add any. If the steering system is leaking, you repair the problem. It is a sealed system other than a removable fill cap. It does not use fluid in the sense you ever loose any

Where do you add power steering fluid?

The HHR does not use power steering fluid. The power steering is strictly an electric motor attached to the steering column under the dash. If you are having problems, you may need to have the motor replaced.

However, before you do, check the following fuses:

Underhood fuse #1 - 60A
Inside console fuse #19 - 2A

Either with kill the steering and may have been blown if you (or an uninformed mechanic) have jumped the car incorrectly.
