SOURCE: Fluctuating Idel @ regular RPM's ......I NEED HELP
same prob i replaced air idle control and cleaned out intake valve or altenator is not giving right volts and fuel pump on start up isnt giving right amount of gas cadillacs need fuel pump to be correct or whole engine will not run right
SOURCE: 1999 cadillac deville overheating
my husband did everything that everyone else did that had this overheating problem. It was so weird that my engine cooled at a light and heated up going down the road. I have a north star 4.6 engine and this is natorious for happening. my check engine light also came on and so I had a diagnostics done which told me my #1 injector wasn't firing , car ran like **** as well. After putting in a new water pump and plugs, ect. and realized injector was good a friend told him we could have a blown head gasket. So just to see if this was the problem I went to buy a bottle of glassbeads and the auto parts guy told us to purchase a bottle of BARS STOP LEAK BLOCK SEALER NOT RADIATOR BUT BLOCK SEALER $31.99 . He followed the directions and we waited 24 hrs. before driving it. What ever the problem was has stopped my car runs like brand new and I am loving it again. no over heating no injector problem, runs great.......I hope this helps. I know its probly a temperary fix but its a fix and now we know what the problem was. SASSY
SOURCE: My car is leaking coolant.
my 2001 catera just had the same problem i had the crank sensor replaced car wont die so far no problems starting but it has a antifreeze leak in the bottom seal of the engine. I have heard this is due to the dexcool that the manufacture decided was better than reg antifreeze and the repair bill for the labor is crazy still havent changed the bottom seal yet

The error is indicating that the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is out of the normal range with respect to the Idle Speed Control (ISC). Try something really simple and inexpensive first by removing the air ducting between the air filter box and the throttle body. Clean the throttle body interior and throttle plate with a cloth sprayed with WD40. Turn the throttle plate by pushing it at the top with your fingers and clean the throttle throat behind the plate as best you can. Reassemble the ducting and ensure that there are no air leaks at the junctions and no splits. Turn the key to position 2 (engine not running) and depress the accelerator pedal to the floor and then back up again. Start the car and nine times out of ten that should fix it. The TPS measures the opening angle of the throttle plate. The TPS is device consisting of a circular carbon track with a slider, corresponding to the throttle plate, sweeping along it. It as three wires to it, two to provide the 0 to 5 volt range along the length of the carbon track and the third to measure the voltage at the contact point of the slider. To check the TPS measure the voltage of the middle pin of the connector when the ignition is at position 2 (engine off) as you push the throttle plate open and closed by pressing on the accelerator pedal. The voltage should alter in a smooth continuous way. Any drop outs of signal indicate a worn carbon track and the TPS should be replaced.
Engine stall or RPM fluctuates
at idle.
This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control
