Once car heats up tcs lights go on and car hesitates badly until I let up on gas...OK if I only gradually throttle up but whenever needing more torque it kicks again. Codes brought up by local shop are C1118, P1526, P1540 which seem to point to solenoid system malfunctioning. Can you shed any light on this problem. Car has been very well maintained, and has 127k mi. Problem doesn't seem to happen if I press the TCS button to off after each time I start the car, but engine light still on. Thank you
I dont see any such code 1118, BUT, 1526/1540 is classic. 1526 is the vent solenoid circuit, and 1540 is the abv. these solenoids live on the back of the motor, right next to the egr valve. there is a row of 4, you are concerned with 2 and 4, going from right to left. i would first replace both, since they tend to go out around the same time. they control the abv, which controls boost. if this valve/circuit is not operating correctly, the pcm puts the car in "limp home" mode; will not rev over 3k, and tcs off/tcs lites come on. if you want to, ohm the solenoids when hot. normal is about 26, above 30 or 0, and they are bad. but from your description, i know they are bad.
Which sizes of vacuum hose are needed on this car type? ( getting the tcs &tcs off lights bit not the limp home mode )
However no codes relating to the solenoids ( do get a p0102 maf sensor low input code).
Want to replace all vacuum lines since a used maf did not got the code go away (yes i did reset ecu bur code came back)
Have your vacuum hoses changed. If problem still persists, have soleniods checked. There are 4 of them on engine near firewall close to the top. I have a 99 s . Car would barely run. Tcs had always been a problem. Now after new vacuum lines, problem dissappeared. Good luck.hope this helps.
