What is the trouble code the vehicle is displaying? The check engine light comes on for several different reasons. One reason is when the vehicle reaches a certain milage the light comes on automatically so you have to take the vehicle to the dealer for service, usually around every 50,000 miles so the smog emission system can be checked to make sure it is working correctly. The other is if the vehicle is equiped with an ECM (Engine Control Module) and it detects a problem with the engine operations. Your local dealer can put the vehicle on a computer to diaginose the problem and/or trouble code. The check engine light is usually reset by the dealer with the computer after the problem is corrected. One thing to be aware of is that some repair facilities cut the wire for the lamp to make it go off so you won't see it because they don't have the equipment to reset it. To check for this turn on the ignition to the run position and check to see that all the warning lights are on and displaying before starting the car. The check engine should light also signfying it is working correctly. Good Luck, RAC

It should go out in a few days if that's really why it's on. Make sure you've tightened the cap

First, never gas up while the engine is running it's a fire hazard to you and everyone else at the station. Did you check air to fuel ratio? Is car getting enough of each? The check engine light came on at gas station because of the car running, just like a loose gas cap can trigger it.

2002 Buick Century continue to run hot although I have replaced the thermastat and the radiator and checked anifreeze levels - what's else could be wrong?

Turn your a/c on, both fans will start. The temperature switch is located on the intake behind the thermostat housing, but it isn't near as hard to replace.

My check engine light is constantly on....a guy at the kia place told me that it was because I prob didn't tighten my gas cap enough. He stated that if I took it to a kia place they could turn it off but I...

Well, if you have an OBD-II scanner, for $100 or so from Walmart, you can use the erase code button to stop the light from coming on if the problem was solved with the gas tank cap not being screwed on tightly.

However, if it doesn't turn off with the OBD-II scanner, then there is a problem that the scanner can read a code for, that will be displayed in plain English, that is wrong with the car.

Check engine light came on Tuesday afternoon, after I filled the gas tank on Monday afternoon. If the check engine light came on because of the gas cap not being on tight enough, do I just tighten the gas...

Check engine light might have came on because of loose gas tank cap, but it's a good idea to read the code and check if it's not something else, you can take your car to an Auto Zone and they read the code for free and tell you the cause also. But if you want to reset the check engine light, only way is to disconnect the battery terminals and let it set overnight, check engine light will be reset. Hope it helps and let me know if you need more advice. Please don't forget to rate the answer it helps with my ratings, thanks!

My 2000 Buick Century keeps overheating. We've changed the thermostat and radiator. Any other suggestions

If thermostat is new and you correctly filled radiator by filling while running and let level drop so all fluid goes into block and then fill up radiator again, then you either have faulty temp sensor or plugged exhaust.

96 Buick Century can't pass imisions code P1441

P1441, EVAP Emissions System Flow During Non-Purge.
you seem to have an evap problem these problems are hard to diagnose sometimes it can only be the gas cap or maybe rust around the seat of the gaz cap
get the code erase and see if it comes back on and if it does check gas cap and arroung the filling neck if there is rust if no visible rust apears you will have to get it check with smoke to see where it leaks

hope it will help you

Have a great day
