My 2000 nissan xterra just quit it turns over but that is it

Today when I was driving home my xterra stalled and then it would not start up again. It turns over but it wont start up. when it first happened it would sort of start but die quickly or die when I pressed on the gas. The check engine light never turned on.

Distributor, open it up and take a look under he rotor. The bearings usually brake and will not allow the car to restart.

My 2000 Nissan Xterra died the other day. It felt like it was "missing" while I was driving down the interstate. Took it into shop, they suggested fuel injector cleaning which seemed to work for a day. ...

Could be the distributor. Bearings are notorious for failing which affects the cam position sensor in the unit. Did you have any codes thrown to the display ?

When engine is warmed up the car begins hesitating

I really think it's the TPS, (throttle positioning sensor) on the throttle body. When this sensor is defective or out of position the vehicle will idle like that and even stall. If you haven't had it scanned, you should do so, that will probably tell you the problem.

We are having the same problem. We are right now changing the crankshaft position sensor along with the intake and manifold gaskets.

2000 Nissan Xterra has power but then dies

I suggest you begin by charging and testing the battery, your description indicates it is discharged.

Why it is discharged remains to be seen - you need to check the alternator drive belt and the alternator charging.
