Because you have not mentioned what transmission you have I will start with a manual. I am thinking that the clutch pressure plate is on the way out and is slipping in the peak torque of the engine and allowing the engine rpms to peak out. Check clutch slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder as the compensating port may be blocked and holding the clutch partially disengaged. If you have an auto- run fault codes and look for an OD servo/sensor fault. Have a pressure test done on the box to check for internal faults. Check oil level when hot

ford have a inner switch that does not work with the door switch dome light. one of the switch could be broken.. most of the time it is the rear tail gate that give the problem..
