Hi I have a 1998 nissan 1400 I just put a new clutch kit skimmed flywheel to top it of I put a reconditioned gearbox in. I dont get full clutch and my cable ( brand new)is adjusted fully. Basically when...

Hi Zandre Are you sure you have put the Clutch centre plate in the correct way round?
Some plates its impossible to fit incorrectly as you would not be able to fit the pressure plate. However some you can fit incorrectly, its been a long time since I have fitted a clutch to a 98 Nissan so I cannot remember if it is possible to make this mistake.
Did you have this issue before fitting the clutch if not then its something you have done.
If you did then I would be looking at possible bent or fractured clutch pedal brackets or linkages. Good luck.

Do i have rights if my new clutch lasted just over a year?

Hard to say, you would have to be able to prove that they did not install properly, as opposed to your driving style causing a failure. If the failure was with the clutch material then they will likely state that you have been riding the clutch (keeping your foot on the clutch pedal while driving) or engaging the clutch to slowly and allowing to slip. Your best bet if you are seeking to have it replaced would be to get another independant mechanic to have a quick look.

Replace clutch

this is easily done on this engine. just need a jack and some wheel ramps. take the battery off undo the starter motor, undo the box bolts to the engine and take the plate out. jack up remove the engine mount on gearbox side. ,then jack up after so engine is at an angle and pull off the gearbox and clutch housing oh forgot to say remove the gear link pin and clutch cable. now you can see the clutch and remove it. when putting the clutch back in locate the new clutch with a socket one of the long types think it was an 18mm just fits in right for the locator. then bolt down the new clutch take out the socket. and put back the engine in reverse. wiggle the gear box and casing to locate back onto the new clutch if dont fit in first time.

Will a bad ignition amplifier require a new distributor on a 1975 mg midget

You don't need a new distributor. Buy a Pertronix electronic ignition kit and it will fit inside your distributor cap and work excellent.

5 speed hard time shifting and it has a new clutch.

Replacing the clutch plate only sometimes doesn't help you should have replaced the clutch pressure plate too, best is to fit the clutch pro-kit (clutch plate, clutch pressure plate and release bearing).
I guess now you will have to just replace the clutch pressure plate and the release bearing.

Clutch started to slip on steep hill any way to adjust ?

I guess its time for a new clutch plate, best would be to fit in the pro-kit (clutch pressure plate, clutch plate and release bearing).

Fitted new clutch and slave cylinder in 2.5 v6

crawl up under the dashboard & look where the clutch pedal rod goes through the firewall. look for traces of brake fluid at the rubber boot of the rod. a clutch master cylinder normally will leak to the inside of the vehicle & down the firewall when it fails. Replace as required & bleed clutch system using the bleeder valve that should be on the slave asy.

No clutch after i replaced it

try to check the bearing, sometimes they will fall out of place when you reinstall, that happen to me on a mustang. that may not be the problem but its a suggestion.

Problems with gear box

Hi

If the clutch feels ok and isn't biting right at the bottom or right at the top then it sounds like its time for a recon or 2nd hand gearbox to be fitted.

I recently fitted a 2nd gearbox to a seat ibiza GTi which actually has the 2.0 Golf engine fitted to it and it wasn't too bad at all, but it is adviseable to fit a clutch kit whilst the box is off.

Very best regards

Geordie
