SOURCE: 1997 dodge dakota v6 engine wont start replaced

turn the key to the on position a see if you can here a buzzing sound around the fuel tank,if you don't hear a sound then. (be very careful while doing this) with the key off take a fuel line coming from the tank loose, make sure its pointed away from you and turn the key to the on position, see if any gas comes out,if not then your fuel pump is probably bad.

1989 Dodge 318 CDI engine with Fuel injection. Motor stalls and surges when starting. Takes 15 mins to start. After warming up for 15 minutes will run better but still occasionally surges and stalls.

Questions here are better with full 'year make model' instead of generic '318'.

A few generic ideas.

  1. Check fuel pump pressure.
  2. Run injector cleaner through the fuel system 'Extreme Clean' is a good one.
  3. Clean the throttle body.
  4. Does it have a MAF (mass air flow sensor)?

I have a 2003 Dodge Caravan and recently my van hesitates and bucks and stalled while I was pushing on the gas. What could the issue be?

This generation of Caravans had a problem with the fuel injection wiring harness.
The problem is excessive heating of the harness and the poor quality of the insulation on the individual wires located within the harness. The spot to check is located where the engine FI harness plugs into the body fi harness just behind and below the ign. coil.
It is located near the exhaust crossover and once repaired should be relocated.
Examining the harness will not revel the deteriorated wires located within the harness. You must cut open the outer harness covering on the engine side of the connector to see the wires and make the repairs.
Sometime you can re-insulate the individual wires with tape but it's best to replace the engine FI harness and it's not hard to do.
Ebay sells the harness for about 125/150 bucks.

You do not have a carburetor. It is a throttle body injection system. The coolant temperature sensor, oxygen sensor, map sensor and throttle position sensor all have to do with the fuel delivery. The ECM (computer/brain) collects information from these sensors and adjusts the fuel accordingly. Hold the throttle wide open and try to start it. Have your diagnostic codes read and make sure you put in the correct ECM for your vehicle. Check your fuel return line and your air filter.

I've got a 1996 jeep grand Cherokee with the 5.2 v8 fuel injected Holley throttle body. My problem is while driving at soft or low acceleration it accelerates fine, but if you hit the throttle hard it

I would check the voltage on the throttle portion sensor with the engine off from idle to wide open throttle. If there are any dead spots, replace the sensor. If the tps checks out, you should check fuel pressure. If you have good fuel pressure, you may want to make sure there isn't a lot of slack in your timing chain. I don't believe you mentioned the mileage of your vehicle. Best of luck.

84 Corvette crossfire engine stalls out when running and trouble restating after stalling out...fuel pump replaced five times along with fuel filter and fuel pump filter...car sitting since 2008 and...

Yea , those crossfire injection vettes can be a bear sometimes . I had dealings with them 84-85 - 86 working as a tech at a chevy dealer . Don't remember much about them , haven't heard anything about them for long time .

How's the fuel pressure ? Have you put a fuel gauge on it ? I would imagine you don't have a Tech 1 scan tool ? What's the map sensor voltage at idle ?

Were is the crankshaft sensor is located on 1990 dodge pickup with 318

If your truck has a multiport fuel injection system then crank sensor is located on the top of the bell housing on the passenger side. If your truck has carburetor or throttle body injection then your truck doesn't have a crank sensor.

My etc light is flashing on and off

The throttle position sensor should be located on the side of the throttle body or on the fuel injection pump. If it is one of the models on the throttle body it will be attached at the end of the throttle shaft. If the engine is setting code 24 and idles erratically that is the problem. If it is setting a different code tps is not the problem
