For 1997 Honda Accord 2.2L MFI
4cyl the Vehicle Speed Sensor - Location is located mounted on transmission.
OPERATION
The Vehicle Speed Sensor
(VSS) is a magnetic pick-up sensor that sends a signal to the
Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the speedometer. The sensor measures
the rotation of the output shaft on the transaxle and sends an AC
voltage signal to the PCM that determines the corresponding vehicle
speed.
TESTING
-
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
-
Disengage the wiring harness connector from the VSS.
-
Using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM), measure the resistance
(ohmmeter function) between the sensor terminals. If the resistance is
190-250 ohms, the sensor is okay.
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
-
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
-
Disconnect the three terminal connector from the vehicle speed
sensor (VSS).
-
Remove the fasteners that secure the VSS to the transaxle housing
assembly.
-
Remove the VSS.
To install:
-
Install the VSS.
-
Install the mounting bolts.
-
Connect the three terminal connector to the sensor.
-
Connect the negative battery cable.
Hope helps (remember rated this).
