SOURCE: where is blower motor resistor

There is a resistor pack for the fan speed in the ductwork near the fan.. It is very easy to replace once it is located. Ussually there are either one or two 5.5mm screws holding it in place. Once you get it out you will notice the resistors that are burnt.

SOURCE: 2005 Pontiac Bonneville hvac blower does not come on

Start by checking the blower resistor. It should be under the dash on the passenger side near the blower itself. You will need to remove the glove box to access it. It is a small plate that has only a few screws and a group of wires that go to a plug in the center. Unplug it and remove the screws. When you pull it out it should look like a series of small spring shaped coils. Most likely one or two of them will be burned up. Replace it in reverse order and your blower should start working again. If this is not the problem then test the fan motor itself. Hope this helps. Good luck.

SOURCE: how to replace AC Heater blower motor on a 2002

If youre changing it because it wont blow, try applying power to it first. It is on the passenger side under the dash if you take off the panel above the passenger feet. has a 2 wire plug in apply 12v to the motor, if it works replace the more common blower motor resistor which is located 3-5inches towards the front of the car from the fan itself. Also be sure to check your fuses.

I have to replace fan resister on my 2000 pontiac Montana do I to take out the blower motor to get at the resister

Step 1: Pry and remove the retaining pins (3) that secure the interior panel to the UNDERSIDE of the glove compartment area (near the PASSENGER'S feet).

Step 2: Disconnect the blower motor's wiring harness (1).

Step 3: Loosen and remove the 7/32 mounting bolts (3) that secure the blower motor to the vehicle. Pull the blower motor from the vehicle.

Step 4: Disconnect the wiring harness (1) mounted just to the LEFT of the resistor.

Step 5: Loosen and remove the 7/32 mounting bolts (3) that secure the resistor to the vehicle.

NOTE: You only need to LOOSEN the rear bolts, as the resistor will slide free without completely removing them!

Step 6: You can now slide and remove the resistor.

Step 7: Mount the new resistor by tightening the 7/32 mounting bolts (3). Connect the wiring harness (1).

Step 8: Reattach the blower motor by tightening the 7/32 mounting bolts (3).

Step 9: Connect the blower motor's wiring harness (1).

Step 10: Re-engage the retaining pins (3) to secure the interior panel to the UNDERSIDE of the glove compartment area.

My heater blower will not work on my 2002 Grand Am. I have checked the two fuses on each side panel and put a meter and even a new blower motor and no reading or power to the new motor.

Power for the blower starts at the fuse, goes thru the HVAC control panel, then the resistor block, then thru the high speed blower relay, then to the motor.
You should have voltage at the resistor and at the relay.

AC & Heater Fan on fast spped only

Most of the time this is a bad "blower motor resistor". It is easy to replace. You will find your behind the glove box in the ac/heater (evaporator) housing. Below is a pic of the resistor as it is seen from behind the glove box. 1. resistor assembly. 2. harness 3. fasteners (2). 4. lower edge of glove box. (open).
