This is so common on a lot of Chevy vehicles I don't understand why they have not recalled the EBCM on these avalanches this is a major design flaw in the board solder joints itself. The NTSB decides to recall and Dealers are to remove the wheel speed sensor and thoroughly clean the wheel speed sensor mounting surface on the bearing, apply rust inhibitor to the cleaned surface, grease the mounting surface, reinstall the wheel speed sensor, and check the peak-to-peak output voltage to ensure the wheel speed signal is within specifications. This isn't even the issue its the damn EBCM. These vehicles should still to this day be recalled and hasn't its not the salt belt states that cause this issue its a defect in EBCM which they refuse to admit!

All these vehicles need to be recalled for EBCM solder joint on the relay, but there to STOOPID to do it!

How did you come up with this code ? U 1041" Loss of EBCM/EBTCM ????? Do you what U code's are for ????? Brake pads an rotors have nothing to do with this code ! This is a problem with the serial data communication network or the ABS module it's self .
DTC U1001-U1254
Modules connected to the class 2 serial data circuit monitor for serial data communications during normal vehicle operation. Operating information and commands are exchanged among the modules. When a module receives a message for a critical operating parameter, the module records the identification number of the module which sent the message for state of health (SOH) monitoring/node alive messages. A critical operating parameter is one which, when not received, requires that the module use a default value for that parameter. Once an identification number is learned by a module, it will monitor for that modules node alive message. Each module on the class 2 serial data circuit is required to send a node alive message every 2 seconds. When no message is detected from a learned identification number for 5 seconds, a DTC U100 000 is equal to the 3-digit identification number of the module.
your best bet ,chevy dealer !

SOURCE: emergency brakelight/ABS light remains on.

You have fault in your abs/traction control system. You need to find a shop that can read the code for you before I can give you any more information on this problem.

SOURCE: Abs Is engaging irratically on 2002 avalanche

There is a recall on the 02 avalanche for some ABS sensor. You can get fixed if you live in a state where it snows, According to GM "The Salt-Band" type in 02 Avalanche abs recall, you will see it. Good luck!

Have a u1041 loose of ebcm ebtcm communication code on 2001 cherolet tahoe

A U1041 code means that communications with the electronic brake control module are lost, and this may have happened because:
• Electronic Brake Control Module harness is open or shorted
• Faulty Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM)
• Electronic Brake Control Module circuit poor electrical connection
To fix the issue, inspect the issues mentioned above and check that all the wirings and connectors are intact-nothing should be broken or corroded.

What does ebcm/ebtcm mean

An Electronic Brake Control Module, or EBCM, monitors the rotation speed of each wheel. The EBCM decreases the braking force to a wheel when it detects that the wheel is rotating more slowly than the other wheels. Additional details for GM vehicles in this link: absfixer.com/how_do_i_remove.

EBTCM is the Electronic Brake Traction Control Module device.

Good luck.

My ABS, Emerg Brake and Traction Control light all came on at the same time. Would this be a sensor, or what would the problem be?

Hello! There is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB # 04-05-25-002D) that addresses this issue and may be the source of the fault...I say "maybe" without knowledge as to whether the TSB has been installed...It is a loss of communication with the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM)...This is caused by a poor ground connection to the EBCM...The ground connection is located on the frame beneath the drivers side door...If multiple grounds are found at this location, it is the heavy 12 gauge wire...Wire connector must be bare metal to bare metal and held in-place with a star washer...Tighten to 79 in/lbs...

If TSB has been installed a label will be located on the inside of the drivers door...Let me know if TSB has been installed...

Abs Is engaging irratically on 2002 avalanche

Did you bleed the system after doing the brakes? and since you din't say abs light I assume you mean the brakes are acting erratically. If you bleed the breaks first after that try it and if it still does it make sure you have the correct rotors and pads.

How do you change the rear brake pads on a 2002 chevrolet avalanche cant get the two brake calapor bolt out

You need to remove the 2 bolts that attach the caliper to the mounting bracket (big metal) with an 18mm socket, use a 1/2" drive ratchet to give you some torque. If you are removing the other bolts that just "turn" you are on the wrong bolts, these are the bolts that allow the caliper to slide in and out freely. you should be able to then use a ligth hammer to tap the entire assemble off of the rotor. then replace you pads and rotors if needed. also your parking brake is located inside the drum of the rear rotor. Making adjustments to these can be quite a process but can be done in the driveway. good luck.

I am trying to replace my rear rotors/pads.size of rotors/pads?

Take a tape measure and measure acroos the middle of the rotor, but it should tell you on the rotor what size it is. if push comes to shove take one to the parts store and match it up.
