Tranmission how does the transmission fit back together on a 1991 dodge colt with a 1.5L mitsubishi engine?

These are the same bolt patterns, bolt pattern is 4 X 4.5 or also known as 4 X 114MM. Measure 2 lugholes across from each other and it should measure 4 1/2" US or 114MM. the center hubs may be smaller/larger. Check the center hub size before purchasing:

I'm guessing standard transmission? Think about getting it checked. It sounds like the splines (areas where your gears fit/mesh together inside the transmission housing) may be coming loose or for some reason are not fitting together like they should. Are you having any issues changing gears? Have you noticed any excessive play in your gear shifter? Is any fluid leaking out from the housing? I'm thinking something is loose in the housing itself or you may also get the clutch/throw out bearing checked - sometimes that can cause vibration/rattling or even a whining noise as it's going out.

The Colt was built by Mitsubishi for Dodge. I would recomend you go to your local parts store and have them order what you need if they done have. It will save you time and agrivation.Good Luck.

You can switch out the 4 speed for the 5 speed but when I changed mine out I had to switch out the ECM. Wasn't much of a problem as I have a few colts sitting around and one of them is a 5spd that is going to be switched over to a diesel! You can find some ECMs at a few different websites they are a little spendy nowadays for em. $300+.

It is 24 years old and you might have trouble locating parts if you need to repair it. I would tell you for the right price any car can be a deal but you may spend more then it's worth if you are walking instead of driving.

You have to replace the axle. Jack up the car, remove the wheel. Remove the axle nut. Unbolt the ball-joint from the spindle. Pull the axle from the spindle. Pop the axle out of the transmission. Reverse procedure.
