If it goes on, the computer has found an error, and if it goes off, the error is gone. Most vehicles will store a fault, but if your light stays off, you are good. (Normally goes on with wheel sensor issues, such as bad wheel sensors, or miss-sized tires)

Pop your rear tailgate. Look inside for an access panel(s). In SUV's they're usually right behind the light assemblies on the inside. They'll either have screws or pop-outs. You may even have to remove part of the interior panel.
Once the panel is removed, access the light panel from behind and remove bulbs.
