SOURCE: replace the alternator on a 97 isuzu rodeo

from Yahoo answers
The alternator is located on the passenger side of the motor at the bottom. There is a bracket attached to the motor and the alternator. You need not take the bracket off to remove the alternator. Two bolts hold the alternator to the bracket. One bolt is on the front top of the alternator and one bolt is located on the bottom front of the alternator. The bottom front bolt is attached to the tension adjustment for the alternator. Loosen the tension screw then remove the bolt going through the tension adjustment. After you loosen the top, front bolt, the alternator should be loose enough to move side to side. Remove the top, front bolt. Now you must disconnect the alternator from the power supply. Behind the alternator is a screw with a wire attached via nut. Remove this wire. Nextly there is a series of wires with a plug on the end. It is plugged into the side of the alternator. Uplug this item. You can also access both of these from the passenger side front tire well. Something to consider is that remanufactured alternators in Rodeo's as well as the Honda Passport (which has the same engine as the Rodeo) do not work and the problem(s) associated with a bad alternator,ie; not charging, no fan blower, battery light and brake light on, still exsist after replacing alternator with reman. Use a factory original alternator if possible. It will cost a little more than a reman but will most likely save you a lot of time and headache!

Hope this helps you out!!

SOURCE: 1997 Isuzu Rodeo Belt removal

You need to loosen the alternator so the belts become slack. Look for bolts on top and bottom that attach the alternator to a bracket or the engine block. Loosen them and the alternator will move. Since the belts hook to other accessories, you may need to loosen them too. To get them back and the proper tension, you'll need a large screwdriver or pry bar to put tension on them as you tighten the bolts. I suggest you get a Haynes guide for this model that will have photos showing how this is done.

SOURCE: no power to fuel pump 1996 isuzu rodeo

well i got a salvaged ecm from a junkyard and put it in, still did'nt start. took alternator off to have it checked , it is fine. put it back in and now it starts and runs fine. check the alternator and the connections, i heard the alternator controls power after the initial ecm prime when it is turned on. i have no idea how true it is, but worth a shot. if you can find a cheap ecm for a junkyard (mine was 75 bucks) i would try that afterwords.

with my experiance on these engines it's usually the upper outlet hoses running from the heads into a t then into the upper radiator hose they are pain to replace but 3 out of 3 of my v6 isuzu's have had the same problem you'll have to pull off the theromstat and the coil pack the hoses are very small and run from the end of the heads one on each into a t then into the radiator hose just under the housing

You fried the coil drivers , If you have B+ voltage going into those coils an they are new coils ,there is no control ! You have three wires to each coil ,one is B+ voltage ,one goes to what the wiring diagram calls a coil driver an the other looks like a ground symbol an says common chamber. You should be able to test for control with a test light. Go on youtube an watch a few scanner Danner videos on testing electronic ignition systems .

Wiring diagram for 01 isuzu rodeo stereo

A few weeks ago I bought a new JVC stereo for my 2001 Isuzu Rodeo. I was advised that using a wiring harness would be the best option to install it. I spent an entire Saturday going from one store to the next (Autozone, Advance Auto Parts, Radio Shack, etc.) looking for the wiring harness specific to an Isuzu Rodeo but, to no avail. I searched several online sites looking for one and finally found it at http://www.beachaudio.com/ . The cost of the harness was under $10 and with express shipping I only paid about $20. Since I ordered it on a Wednesday night with 3 day express shipping, I assumed that I'd receive it the following Monday given any processing time and the weekend but, it was delivered to me just two days later. My husband installed my new stereo that Sunday using the harness that I purchased and it works great! Hope this information helps.
