My 99 dodge ram 1500 v8 magnum just dies while driving. complete power loss, but lights still work and turns over. starts back up and runs great before aaa arrives to tow it, but it happens again with no warning. its showing no codes on the reader, but showing a code where the mileage is. " no bus" or " no bu5" help! need it for work and wallet is getting lighter. love the truck. acts like someone just plain took the key out while driving down the road or like flipping the breaker in your house

Could be the ignition switch. It's definitely an electrical problem, and the ignition switch is the most likely cause.

I agree, it is an electrical problem. It could be the ignition switch, or even the PMC. There is know way of knowing until you check the DTC chart or system chart on AllData, and run a pinpoint test. It would be cheaper for you to take it to a good shop. You don't want to replace unneeded parts, and that's what you'll do trying to fix it. I mean no disrespect. But I've seen people that are pretty good DIYers make the same mistake.

SOURCE: I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 sport 5.9. I was

Cmp And Ckp are your cam and crank sensors. Basically whats going on is one of those sensors are malfunctioning causing the system to adjust its resources. ie the pcm guesses how fast the cam or crank is turning and adjust timing as nessessary. Pull the crank sensor and inspect for damage. do the same for cam. You may need a book for there locations. Also using a test meter, check there output signals for correct voltage. This should point you in the right direction. Hope it helps.

SOURCE: intermitent no bus problem on 2003 dodge 1500

check all relays .. relays after getting hot will shut off what ever they run.. so check them closely .. they are in your power distribution box under the hood and the lid usually has a diagram of which is which.. Relays are good at cooling off and working right a while too so look these over . or change the ones you think are the right one.. thanks Jerry

My 97 dodge ram 1500 V8 magnum has a wire on the left side of the power distribution center that I don't know where it goes

that is the power wire comes from battery to the box through the fuse then powers all the fuses and relays in that distribution box. if your talking about the wire connector with no wire in it. that is an aux power source to run anything needing 12volts like a salter or snow plow.

1999 Dodge Ram van 1500 no pick up power

I had a similiar problem on my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Conversion Van. It ended up being a partial collapse of the catalytic converter which didn't allow adequate exhaust. The problem only showed itself because I could not get over 55 mph going up a small hill.
