I have a 1993 honda accord ex and sometimes it is hard to shift my shifter. Is this a problem with my nuetral safety switch? I often put my key in the slot on the shifter console to see if that will correct the problem.I often hear a clicking sound in the area of my shifter console. Can you help me with this problem!
Junk and grime can get down in your shifter . U need check out how to take the shifter top off clean where the button goes down that connects to a rod that moves down and allows you to shift . The clicks u hear may be the end of rod not moving down far enough so it is clicking in and out of ever groove in the assembly . There is a groove for each gear that keeps it in place . Look on u tube for videos of this and I'm sure it will help .

You have to remove the console and radio pod. Then remove 2 screws that you can now get to behind the pod. Then pry out the dash light dimmer switch (the one you use to adjust dash light brightness) remove the screw behind it that holds in the gage cluster trim. Then there is another switch on the other side under the cluster (don't remember what it is) and there is another screw behind it. Have fun, LOL!

Further clarification on the O2 sensor location: It is in the exhaust pipe, under the center of the car, on top of the pipe, just aft of the oil filter.

remove cable from transmission, follow cable behind engine, along exhaust pipe, then up through floor into center console.along the way you will find retainer clips (on both ends of cable) which hold the cables in place, and also underneath you will find a fastner which holds cable to bottom of floorboards and a panel with a rubber gasket in which the cable goes up into the console through. you must then remove center console to release the other end of cable.Once cable is loose go under car in the middle of the cable and pull out from floor then pull the other end out from engine compartment.

First thing to do,try to pump your clutch before you shift into 1st gear then if you feel makes better, most probably you have problem with your hydraulic clutch system, check the clutch line if there is an evidence of fluid leaking or it could be internal leak.
Second thing to do, check your transmission oil, may be it' s too old or you use a thick oil thats why when cold its hard to shift then when the engine rich the normal temperature(warm) the oil become thin and the shifting will smooth. Remember the very old oil become thicken and the purity is gone and can cause of hard shifting. in this regards i suggest you to change the transmission oil and check the used oil if there is small peace of metals, then you are in big trouble,
