I have a 99 saturn sl1. I noticed that lately when the car is sitting for an hour or more, that it is sometimes hard to start. I have to give it gas and rev to 2500 RPM for a couple seconds. After this I let go of the gas it and idles pretty nice. If I have to rev the engine to start it, then usually some black carbon comes out of the exhaust, and it smokes for a few seconds. Once i let it idle for a few seconds, it stops smoking.
The plugs are good, and I change the oil regularly. I also recently cleaned the throttle body, and EGR valve. I have no codes showing on my ODBII scanner.

wouldn't fouling plugs cause misfirign errors?
