I HAVE A 1994 PONTIAC TRANSPORT SE VAN WITH A 3800 ENGINE HAD TO REPLACE SERPENTINE BELT. ABOUT 12 INCHS OF THE BELT WAS JAMMED BEHIND THE HARMONIC BALANCER. NOW THE VAN WONT START BUT CRANKS FINE. VAN HAD NO STARTING PROBLEMS BEFORE THE BELT BROKE. WHAT COULD IT BE. COULD THE BELT THAT WAS JAMMED IN BEHIND THE HARMONIC BALANCER HAVE DAMAGED THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR. CAUSING IT TO NOT START.

The cam sensor is in the head near the throttle cables. The crank sensor is in the block near the oil filter. There aren't any sensors behind the balancer. If it is a problem with the security system the security light will be blinking. Does the vehicle start and die or just not crank or crank but not fire?
