1992 Subaru Legacy Check Engine Light

Is there a way to check the problem codes without a computer? Somewhere said to bridge two wires to get the light to flash, I thought I found the wire and bridged it but the check engine light didn't do anything. I can't find step by step info anywhere.

There is two Green single wire plugs under the dash, driver side, above your left leg (rh drive) plug them together, engine check light will flash, www.auto-diagnostic-codes.com will help to read codes

There is a 2 wire connector, it is black. The connector is above your right knee, if you are sitting in the drivers seat. You have to remove the lower cover panel.

Where do i find the list of codes for a subaru for find out the problem

Goggle something like this: 1992 Subaru Legacy ECU Codes or 1992 Subaru Legacy failure codes. Including the engine size like 2.2L may help as well. That is the best way to find any engine code.

1992 Subaru legacy wagon will not shift up from first gear. it is an AT.

run the fault but all you describe is operated from the VSS sensor ( vehicle speed sensor)
it tells the cruise control the vehicle speed , tells the TCM the vehicle speed so that ratios can be changed, activates the speedo, and will report with a check engine light to report a transmission problem
run the fault codes first

1992 subaru has a lot of trouble starting then the idle goes up and down for a couple minutes afterward. check engine light is always on.

Hi sounds like a fuel pump maybe on its way out, could also be a clogged fuel filter if it hasnt been changed for a while causing pressure loss in fuel line, i would also check the idle control valve as these play up from time to time, the easiest way would be to drop into a garage and get them to do a quick ecu fault code read out that takes maybe 10mins and it will tell you exactly whats wrong without replacing parts that arent faulty

I have Subaru legacy 1995. When I start the engine it chokes immediedly down. There is pleanty of fuel..but have the check engine light coming on and off. The sensour was replaced 3 years ago.

Check your fuses. If you can have your car hooked up to a computer and check the code. The code will tell you where to start. Check your spark plugs and wires. Check for broken vaccum hoses or wires.

Weak throttle response 92 subaru legacy

I would have have the TPS (Throttle Position Switch) tested, it sends a signal to the ECM of where the position of the throttle is so the ECM can determine how much fuel and air and spark to give to the engine. Have you replaced the spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, spark plug wires? Have the coil tested also to see if it is putting out enough spark. Do you have any Check Engine Light coming on?

Your model and year has OBDII. I would not suggest shorting any wires. It will not flash codes. Most Auto parts stores will test it for free. Good luck and have a great day.

The Check Engine Light came on this morning in my 1992 Subaru Legacy L wagon. What possible problems can this be? I am in the process of trying to sell it.

dear friend-it is not to say that your problem is a big one, what you can do is to disconnect the battery for
a short while and then reconnect,if the lite stays away it"s not a problem,if it"s back hook up to a scanner for the fault code.

Fuel gauge/temp gauge not working

There are two sensors, one for ECU temp. readings with two pin connector and other one with only one wire, which has been probably disconnected when you replaced the CPC solenoid - very close position.
