Sounds like you have your timing off. If it is backfiring, that means that 2 of your wires are crossed, causing the plugs to fire on the exhaust stroke versus the compression stroke. Recheck your timing.

EFI= to Electronic Fuel Injection. If you have sparks, check for fuel delivery. Another is the electronic module on your distributor, but you already said you have spark and hopefuly the right "timming" too. So you checked the current and is OK, what else do we have.The computer? Remeber that Camry,is the cadillac of the Toyota. Some even have Lexus parts. So expect parts to be rather expensive!.
