You should have a drive belt diagram under the hood somewhere above the radiator, fan shroud or possibly on the bottom side of the hood near the latch.
I could'nt find a diagram for your particular vehicle.
Hope this helps.

Diagram of serpintine belt for 2002 chevy silverado 1500

When did GM stop putting a sticker under the hood with the accessory belt layout? I prefer Mopars, but I did like this idea.If changing a belt on my vehicles,I clean a spot of the radiator support, draw a diagram, and spray some clear paint over it.If you have to go through the trouble of finding a diagram,do this on your truck.

Changing serpentine belt on 2000 chevy silverado 1500 4.8 v8

The belt has tension applied to it from an idler pulley arm. you need to release tension by using a socket and ratchet on the nut on the idler pulley. Release tesion and slide belt off . Make sure you have the diagram for serpentine belt. it is usualy under the hood. If not make a diagram yorself before removing belt.

Ac belt broke on 2000 silverado 5.3 they want $1500 to fix for a broken belt 124,433 miles

For $1500 i'm going to have to assume they are replacing more then just the serpentine belt. Did the A/C compressor seize causing the belt to break? If so, 1500 still seems a little high unless they are trying to get you to replace the other parts in the system. It's not out of the question to replace the receiver drier and the orifice tube when replacing the compressor but they are pretty accessible.

If i remember correctly the a/c belt only drives the A/c compressor. So, you could just leave the belt off with no other ill effects other then obviously having no A/C and less effective defrost.

Ac belt

Most likely you have a serpentine belt that hooks everything together. If so, there should be a diagram on a label underside of the hood, on the cowling for the radiator fan, or even on the framework holding the radiator in.

If not, and you don't have the operator manual handy, go to almost any auto parts shop and pick up a copy of a Haynes or Chilton service manual for your truck. There is a wealth of info there. Or, you could always go to your nearest library and copy the diagram and take it home.

Ac belt replacement

You must remove the fan belt first by wrenching the spring loaded tightener and the same must be done for the compressor belt.

How to put on new AC comressor belt

After you have removed both belts.place the ac belt over the pullys on the crank all the way to the inside so that the belt will go behind the pulley, then place the ac side on the ac compressor pulley.
know place the belt above the tensioner pully and place belt on crank pulley, then raise the tensioner with a wrench to where you can slide belt under the tensioner pulley and release the tensioner against belt, reinstall other belt as you removed it.
