This can be tricky to solve... here are a couple tips that have helped me in the past... cut about a 3 foot piece of 1/2 inch tubing and use it as a stethoscope to listen for a telltale hiss at and around the intake hoses, manifold, throttle body, and all associated hoses and components... (be careful of belts and other moving parts!) another way is to use a propane torch.. just turn it on (without lighting it) and move it slowly around all suspect areas and if the idle rises noticeably you have found your leak... of course be very careful with this method... do this in a well ventilated area and don't smoke while doing it!... Hope this helps...;-)

Diagnostics code po401 honda passport not shifting

code p 0401 refers to exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR) system insufficient flow detected ====causes --hose leak/blockage --basic setting not carried out (if applicable)--wiring--EGR valve --EGR solenoid---ECM
has little to do with not shifting unless the leak is affecting the vacuum actuator for the transmission
so check for vacuum leaks in hoses in the engine bay

2000 HOnda Passport with rough idle, how do I identigy a vacuum leak or any other problem which might cause a rough idle

you can use propane to find a vacuum leak take a bottle and put a rubber hose on it so you can direct it in specific spots and just let a little gas flow if you find a vacuum leak it will bring the RPM of the motor up slightly do not light the torch just let the gas come out

Po171 po172 po174 po175 ???

If the fuel pressure was low enough to give lean codes then u would have a loss of power that you would easily notice, you say you checked for vacuum leaks, did you use a can of carb spray or a bottle of propane? it only takes a very small leak to trigger the codes, spray carb spray around the intake area, see if the engine sound changes, this will indicate a leak,
