Keyless entry and remote starter not working

I recently purchased a 2004 Suzuki Aerio and it came with the remote start and remote start. Neither one is working! I replaced the battery in the remote and it made no difference. If I click the button to unlock the doors, the lights flash but nothing happens. Does anyone know how it works or if I should be doing something to make it work?

SOURCE: How do I program my new Suzuki keyless entry remote to work with our new SUV?

I bought a remote the other day and got these instructions with it. They worked!

1. Make sure vehicle is in Park
2. Press Vehicle Information button (has the icon of a car and an 'i')until 'PRESS *check mark* TO RELEARN REMOTE KEY' displays.
3. Press set/reset button. The message 'REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE' will display.
4. Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter at the same time for about 15 seconds. A beep will sound indicating that the transmitter is matched.
5. To match additional transmitters at this time, repeat Step 3. Each vehicle can have a maximum of four transmitters matched to it.
6. To exit the program mode, you must cycle the key to LOCK.

SOURCE: I PURCHASED THIS 2004 AVIATOR USED WITH NO KEYLESS ENTRY CODE.

the keyless code is by the right rear door panel. open the door, remove the panel that's over the the seatbelt. after doing that open but you don't have just kind of stretch out and their you will find a black box or reciever with a sticker and a 5 digit code stamped on it. if you want to change the passcode refer to your manual, but you'll need the original code to be able to change it.

SOURCE: how to change keyless entry code when I don't know the current

Open the right/rear door. Pull the rubber weatherstrip back from the door opening. Fold the right/rear seat back down into a locked position, in order to access to the right/rear trim panel. Carefully, pry the right/rear upper trim panel housing the right/rear seat belt height adjuster. Now carefully pry back the lower trim panel taking care now to break it, exposing the vehicle security module with three connectors plugged into it, coloured green, blue, and grey. Look on the label that has the part number which should end in EB. There are FIVE numbers to the right of that number. Those five numbers are your keyless entry keypad code.

2008 HHR Remote Starter not working

Is this an issue with all 2008 HHR remotes??? Highly doubtful , probably the vehicles keyless entry system . Taking the vehicle to a qualified repair shop an having the keyless entry system checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's . Do you know what a DTC is ?
The keyless entry system is a vehicle entry device. The keyless entry system is used in conjunction with the body control module (BCM) to remotely activate certain vehicle features. Keyless entry will lock/unlock the doors, or release the rear compartment lid when a corresponding button on the keyless entry transmitter is pressed. This is accomplished by the transmitter sending a radio frequency to the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR). The RCDLR interprets the signal and activates the requested function via a serial data message to the BCM. A low transmitter or vehicle battery or radio frequency (RF) interference from aftermarket devices, such as 2-way radios, power inverters, computers, etc., may cause a system malfunction. High RF traffic areas may also cause interference that could lead to a malfunction. Keyless entry allows you to operate the following components:
• Door locks
• Liftgate lock
• Remote rear doors (Panel only)
• Vehicle locator/panic alarm
• Illuminated entry lamps
• Remote vehicle start
The keyless entry system has the following components:
• Keyless entry transmitters
• Keyless entry antenna
• 2 Way Advanced Remote Start RCDLR
• BCM

Guessing will not fix this .

In my 06' suzuki forenza is there a chip in my key?

If the keys you got are basic Suzuki keys, then NO, you don't have keyless entry. The Forenza/Reno remote is built into the key itself, so you'd know right away if you had it or not.
certain trim packages came with Keyless and some didn't.
Suzuki doesn't filter their catalog by VIN as other makes do so a VIN won't help. If not keyless you'll need the module.

I have recently purchased an 97 suburban it comes with a remote starter but i hae tried to start it via the remote and nothing happens i know that its soposed to work cause its the ltz model thanks for...

if you know the battery in the remote is good, you may need to reprogram the remote. does your keyless entry work? are they both on the same remote? ive reprogramed a replacement keyless entry for a 97 by using a short jumper wire on the obd II plug. you have to jump two of the pins and then hit the remote button a few times till it locks/unlocks then its synced. off hand i dont remeber which pins but google is your friend. not sure if this will also work on the remote start, if they use the same remote than it should.

Cost of redoing keyless entry

If you need to purchase new remotes, it would be around $120-140 depending upon the labor rate at the dealership. If you already have the remotes and just need them programmed, it can be done for under $75 as it will only take about half an hour at the dealership.
