BMW 32xi wont start even with a jump - 2001 BMW 5 Series

I got this free Pdf manual from reliable-store for free and I don't think Ive visited a mechanic or fixya for help for more than 3-4 times out of the 20 times I fixed the chipper in these 4 years

Scan the car for fault codes. When my 535 died like that, it was the crank position sensor.

Can you describe a bit more about what you tried? Have you checked the strength of the battery? Even if the battery powers most of the accessories it may not have enough power to crank the engine. Will it start if you try to jump it?

try removing the spark plugs to ensure that you do not have a hydraulic lock in a combustion chamber. This happens when a crack or faulty head gasket allows water into the chamber and when the piston comes up it is prevented from going over the top of the stroke. Removing the plugs allows the water to come out and the engine to spin.

Certainly sounds like a lack of power in the battery.
Do you have a genuine BMW battery or a cheapie replacement?
Have you tried to jump start the vehicle.
Batteries can seem ok, but when called upon, the power drawn out of them can be insufficient.
Try charging battery and starting on the charger- or just jump start to see what happens

I was facing this problem recently. resolved by jump start.
switch off headlights and everything that consumes battery and then try to start.

If you have a multimeter, connect it to your battery, and select an appropriate DC voltage range. On my multimeter, I use the 20volt setting.

If your battery shows 12-13.8 volts, then it is not the issue. If your battery voltage is low, then you will probably need a new battery. A flat battery can also indicate that the alternator is not recharging your battery properly, but it could also just mean that your battery is old and needs replacing.

If your engine wont turn over, and if your battery is good, it could be a faulty starter motor.

Those jump start packs need to be charged often, or the battery inside them can stop working. It is possible that your jump starter pack is also broken.

Try jump starting the car from another vehicle, with jumper leads. If you know your battery is dead, you could also just replace it with another one.

try jumping the X5 with another car. if it starts, then the battery is too weak start the SAV. if it doesn't start while jumping, try moving the transmission lever forward and aft, then back to park and give it a try. if no joy, see if it will start in neutral. i don't believe the brake has to be applied; mine doesn't.

this cars some times come with an antitheft system make sure to check your owner manual and see if the system is disarm
also even if you have lights try to jump start the car and see what happend
