Help.... I have purchased a 2003 Dodge Intrepid 166,000 mi When I test drove the car it started perfect, ran smooth, shifted beautifully. On the way home, after driving about 8 miles, once the car reached 40 mph, the rpms continued to climb but wouldn't shift. Got the car home the coolant as boiling and the seal on the cap was leaking. I purchased a new cap now it doesn't boil. The shifting issue is still not corrected. There is also a slight ticking noise coming from the engine area once the car is turned off. The engine also seems to be pretty hot. Took to AutoZone the following codes were found : P0871, P0770, P0441, P0440, P0344 Any suggestions?
Had same car with 2.7 engine engines from dodge had a lot of issues as for as the shifting issue it is most likely the govenor solenoids inside the transmission another common problem most shops that mess with transmissions charge anywhere from 300 to 500 to fix the shifting issue

Hi my 2002 Dodge intrepid has a transmission code po1776 could someone tell what is the problem please Thank you

Most common problem causing this code is the purge solenoid. A quick smoke test will show if you have any leaks in the system. If no leaks and the fuel cap is installed properly it's the purge solenoid.

You dont have to pull the tranny to fix this. Some so called "experts" on here shouldnt be giving advice if they dont know. The solenoid pack is located in the front the transmission just below the air filter and in front of the input speed sensor you just replaced. Unbolt the connector with a 10mm socket then the bolts connecting to the tranny. Replace with a new one 140 bux or close(get a new one). Installation is vice versa. Easy fix for any person who is mechanically inclined. Always get a second or third opinion when asking a thousand dollar question on any website. Some people think they know....but they dont.
