Sounds like the automatic dome from your alarm is causing this ...go to autozone and have them read your codes and reset free

SOURCE: 2002 Ford Explorer The door ajar alarm will go off

this problem is caused by the door ajar switches inside the door that are attached to the door latch sticking, there are 1 for each door and 2 in the tailgate, the only simple way to fix this is to have ford do a scan of the system an ID which of the switches is sticking, otherwise you must de-trim/remove door panel on every door and the tailgate until u ID the defective one, and it could be more than one.

SOURCE: 1994 ford explorer dies while driving

Easy Fix! I know exactly what ur talking about, had the same problem for ******* ever, and its not the fuel pump, trust me!!! and it will cost you absolutely nothing to fix! I don't know what the hell they're called exactly, but on the right side of your engine there's a black box, next to where you put the coolant in, with fuses in it. They look like one inch cubes and will say Ford right on top. One of them is for the fuel pump. Try switching it with one of the others, or just switching all of them around and ur car will fire up, but the one that's not working will cause something else not to work properly, but at least u'll now what the problem is. Than just do what I did: take one with you and go to a junk yard and pull out a bunch, they're the same on many ford vehicles, even the newer ones, like 2000, not just the explorer. Make sure its the same one, pull out a bunch, put em in ur pocket and leave without paying, nobody will notice anyways, but they're tricky to find at a parts store, surprisingly. When ur car is running beatiful again, come back to this post and tell me if I was right! God knows how many ours I spent in that car stranded, waiting for it to fire up. Sometimes it'd be 5 minutes, sometimes an hour, sometimes hours, even days. Never knew when it would or wouldn't. Thought is was the starter too! If it works, tell me!!!

Testimonial: "you have helped me out so so much you were exactly right and also it happened to my sons dodge neon and it was the same solution thank you so so much "

2008 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Driver Seat moves and light goes on while driving

Most likely a failing driver door latch internal contact switch , GEM module thinks it sees door open and kicks seat back and turns dome lite on. Use of a scanner to access GEM will show codes to verify issue.

Chances are it is a door latch, but may be a wire that's shorting out. If you also have a door ajar light blinking on and off at the same time the dome light comes on you should recheck the door latch switches. You could also check the wiring in the harnesses to the doors, sometimes the wires brake and short inside them.

I have a 2008 ford explorer and the dome light comes on for no reason. We can be driving down the road and it will come on. It some times comes on when we hit a bump, but we don't have to hit a bump for...

This is a very common problem on Fords. The interior light switch is located at the bottom of the door latch assembly. Great design-because that's where all the dirt accumulates--at the bottom. So the plunger switch gets stuck. Some have had luck by spraying WD-40 into the latch and opening and closing the door to work it in and free up the plunger.

Car dies going down the road

First thing i would check would be the fuel filter. Sometimes, when they first start to give problems, there is enough gas to keep them idling or driving around town, but when you get on the highway they starve for fuel.
