My 1995 jeep grand Cherokee 5.2l v8 is having problems cranking in cold weather. Once I can even get it to start i have to keep my foot on the gas, or else it goes out. If I press too much, it backfires. But I've changed so many things! I've changed ignition coil, distributor cap and rotor and spark plugs and wires, coolant temp sensor, crankshaft sensor, fuel filter, new battery even with higher cold crank amps, and a couple more things. And it still hasn't changed these issues with it starting in colder weather. The colder the weather, the longer is takes to crank. Someone please gimmi some other ideas.

Change the temperature sending unit/temp sensor. When starting, the sensor will tell the computer to put the engine in cold start mode to give a bit more fuel and raise the idle a little so it WILL start and keep running without ever touching the throttle. Once warm-up is completed, this sensor will tell the computer to stop the cold start mode and go to normal run mode. THAT is your only problem.

1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado

Take a look inside the changer with the holder removed and clean any contacts you see. There also needs to be the proper amount of electronic lube inside.
Using a CD lens cleaner is also something to try.

I have one '98 GC 5,2L V8 and remember that the first time I put a CD in my changer it read error, even though it was loaded properly. After pulling out and replacing the holder once or twice it played fine.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

My 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 keeps stalling when I start it. Only happens when its warm. Cold start OK. Many thanks. Rob.

hi, this problem to me sounds like the oxygen sensor needs replacing as when the vehicle is first started or from cold you will find it starts with no problems but once its up to temperature then you start getting problems.
This is due to the oxygen sensor(lambda sensor as its proper name) not working when the engine is cold it only starts working when the engine is up to temp so if this is when your getting the problems then this is what i would look at first.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

95 jeep grand cherokee engine won't idle

check your air intake ducking for cracks....

the problem is probably there, wether you have a broken ducking or a cracked air intake gasket wich allows too much air in the intake manifold....

if the ducking and the gasket are good you might have a timing problem....
