It sounds like one of your door light switches is not closing all the way. They are typicaly push button switches near the rear of door. Some are part of door latch. Depress them by hand to see which one is the issue.

Have you tried pushing the button on post or in door jamb that operates interior light to see if maybe it has a sticky spot, and needs replaced?

That is normal operation, as long as the door is open the door ajar switch senses that and keeps the interior light(s) on.

My interior lights wont shut off and it drains the battery, how do i switch off the fuse so my battery doesnt die?

When you open the driver's side door, you will find a small switch located on the front of the door frame towards the engine compartment. If you push it, the lights should go off. If you push it and the lights don't go off, there is your problem - if the driver's door switch is okay, try the passenger side by doing the same thing.

If that doesn't work and you are sure that you have the panel switch set to off, then you may want to pull the bulb out of the interior light until you can get to the root cause.

You may not be able to pull the fuse without losing other functions too.

I need to know wheres the fuse box located for a 1999 ford expedition my interior lights will not go off...

If a fuse is blown for your interior lights they will not light at all. the fuse panel is on the driver side end of dash where the door touches the dash board, can only access with the door open and small 7'x6" cover is removed, it pulls off by hand

95 chevy blazer 4 door. driver door started to sagg slightly, shortly after the interior light wont go off without pulling the fuse. then the power door locks wont work. Ive heard when door is shut it must...

with the door sagging it may not be pushing button in far enough to shut light off or aligning with button right.Replace bushings in door. The fuse is probably the same one for light and door locks.

I have a 1999 continental and the interior lights will not go out, and the door ajar warning stays on.

Pull Fuse #31 in your driver side under dash fuse panel. Bottom means closest to the floor. Second row from bottom. Second fuse in from driver side door 15A. Controls all interior lighting and courtesy lights. Under hood and trunk.
Pull it and your good to go until you drop off to have the control module replaced. You're Welcome!

Interior lamps willnot shut off have to dissconnect the battery every time alsoits not in the lampswitch.

it is probably in the door jamb. Look for a plunger(black) or a sliding switch. Unscrew it, take off the wiring. It should shut them off, you just wont have lights when you open that door. Try all the doors until it goes off.

91 corvette backup light do not work also 3rd brake light ,bulb&fuses are ok.

I had the same problem with a 91 mazda 626. turned out that the wires that ran from the lights along the trunk and back into the harness were broken from opening/closing the trunk. i would check around that area first.

Interior Dome Lights will not turn off

The fault is most likely to be the drivers door micro switch.
Open your car door and push the microswitch button in and out a few times. This will probably make the light go off short term.
Long term just replace the switch.

Which fuse controls the interior lights

First, make sure the interior light switch has not been left on, either at the light itself (press to turn on, press to turn off) or at the headlight switch.

And don't forget the dimming feature in Chrysler products, where the lights don't just go off, but delay after closing the doors.

The fuse would be the interior lights fuse, most likely at the drivers end of the dashboard.

Interior lights wont turn off

Double check your dashboard "dimmer" switch, most vehicles allow for adjustment of dash light. Once the max intensity is reached there should be an additional "click" which will cause the interior lights to come on and stay on. This is the first thing to check. Many newer vehicles also have a timer switch you should check which turns off the lights a minute or two after shutting the doors. It this is set to the max position it over rides the shut off.

If this is not the cause, you either have an additional fuse for the reading lights (most likely labeled something like "courtesy"). If you did pull the correct fuse and still have power to the lamps you may have a short in the wiring or faulty light switch, dimmer switch or one or more of the door switches which control the lighting. As you can see, it is a more complex system than most people assume. Please take the issue seriously (it is more than an annoyance) as it can melt your lighting fixtures, cause additional electrical system damage or even potentially cause a fire.

One other thing you may wish to check for is an additional switch on the rear hatch. My Kia Sedona has one I accidentally knocked into the on position which caused similar symptoms. The Sedona also had issues which a "Master Switch" located under the dash which controlled the lighting and it's timer which turns off the lights after a short interval.
