The TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) is actually easy to replace - it is located on the throttle body on the engine and is attached to the throttle linkage and flapper valve inside the throttle body. If you have a decent code scanner, you can actually view the position of the throttle as you move the linkage to see if it is tracking linearly with no gaps. This condition can also be caused by a stuck or faulty EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve, regardless of its age. Recheck all codes to be sure you are still getting these errors.
Take your vehicle back to the mechanic that told you the distributer needed attention and tell him that there is still a problem and he apparently did not diagnose it properly or completely. Until the problem is gone, HIS job is not done.
That is indeed odd. I would suspect problems with the hi tension cables if this was not part of the ones you changed since the flow of current ends at the distributor. Check also other cables such as the ground. It is puzzling that all plugs would not have any spark. I would also recommend a scanner used to check for error codes given out by the car's ECU.
#1 piston is the first spark plug drivers side front of engine. Passenger side cylinders are 2 4 6 Drivers side cylinders are 1 3 5 Distributor rotates clockwise and the starting spot is marked with a 1 on the top of the distributor cap. Make sure you note the position of the 1 on the old cap before you take it off so you don't rotate the new one 180 out
most of the time the module will fix it. it's cheap and easy to replace.
just remove the distributor cap and the rotor and you will see it.
however, according to your info, the blazer does not have a vin code W in 1985. that's a 7.4 liters engine, the full size blazer only have 5.7 liters
if it does not start after you check your distributor cap that means you took the car out of timing, when you put the distributor cap back on you did not put it is the correct position, now you need a mechanic to get the timing of the engine
I am going through the same type of problem. I will be pulling the intake manifold off today to check and see if I have any fuel leakage coming from the fuel pressure regulator or injectors. I get random backfiring when motor gets under a load...I put my foot on the brake before I put it in gear and it backfires(sounds like a poofing), always gets worse when in gear, at idle it will do it every 30 seconds...under load when rpms drop...2-3 seconds between...hopefully I find a leak under intake manifold...
If the engine light comes on on the car its the problem with the engine get it checked from the mechanic and look for what code its coming on car you can find the problem and then fix the issue with dealer ......................
