Low tire pressure light won't stay off after proper reset.

We have reset the low tire pressure light after checking the tire pressure in all 4 tires. The light comes back on after driving a very few miles. can something other than the tire pressure cause the light to come on?

Only time will tell if it solved our problem. Thanks.

I have the same problem, have checked the tire pressure in all 4 tires and the spare. P S I on the new tires call for max 44psi, but the book says 29psi, what should I put in them? The sensors on the front tires were broken when they were changed, and now have new ones on them, do I have to take it to dealer to fix the problem?

  • kirtec auto Mar 30, 2015

i work in a tire shop. the pressur to inflate the tires to is on the door .do not go by what the tire says is max pressure.Toyota vehicles need the sensors to be programmed to the vehicle via the obd port using a shrader tpms tool or bartec tpms tool or factory scan tool or equivalent scan tool with tpms capability.resetting the under dash tpms light only helps if the original sensors are in the car and have not had the positions moved.also make sure the pare is properly inflated.

  • kirtec auto Mar 30, 2015

keep in mind that when the tires and the spare are properly inflated and the tpms tool writes the sensor ID and the pressure to the vehicle, this pressure becomes the reference point for triggering the light.if you were to inflate the tires to 44 psi,the light would trigger at -20% which is 35psi indicating a low tire even though they are 5 psi over normal. go by what pressure is on the door label.

Some newer Toyota vehicles have a sensor in the spare tire. Tires loose air over time naturally. I would check out the spare.
When did this TPS light start coming on?
Have you had new tires put on, or had a flat repair done before the light?

You have to options
1. this worked for me, on the car it says 30psi but the trie dealer said 40psi was ok so i put 40psi on all tires including spare and walaaaaaa the light went off (all tires have to be the same 40psi)

2. if you have changed your sensors then you need to reset the codes and this will be done at your dealer outlet.

How do you reset the low tire pressure light?

To reset the tire pressure system, do the following:

(NOTE!....Do not reset the check tire pressure system without first
correcting the cause of the problem and checking
and adjusting the pressure in all four tires. If you reset
the system when the tire pressures are incorrect,
the check tire pressure system will not work properly
and may not alert you when a tire is low or high.)

1. With the engine off, turn the ignition to ON.
2. Press the MODE button until the DIC reads LOW
TIRE PRESSURE HOLD SET TO RESET.
3. Press and hold the SET button until you hear a
chime, and TIRE PRESSURE RESET is displayed.

You will hear three chimes, then the LOW TIRE
PRESSURE message will go off and the DIC will return
to TIRE PRESSURE NORMAL. If the LOW TIRE
PRESSURE message comes back on, the check tire
pressure system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
The system completes the calibration process during
driving. The system learns the pressure at each tire
throughout the operating speed range of your vehicle.
The system normally takes between 30 and 60 minutes of
driving to learn the tire pressures. The system normally
takes 10 to 20 minutes of driving in each speed range to
learn tire pressures. The speed ranges are 20 to 40 mph
(32 to 64 km/h), 40 to 60 mph (64 to 96 km/h), and above
60 mph (96 km/h). This time may be longer depending on
your individual driving habits. The learning process does
not need to be completed during a single trip. Once
learned, the system will remember the tire pressure until
the system is reset.

My sons' 08 jetta is in Chicago. (very cold there) His low tire pressure light on the dashboard lit up. what should he do?

Hello: Check tire pressure, Proper pressure should be on a label on the driver door and door frame. If tires are low, air them up to spec's. If only one tire is low you should check it for a puncture.

TPM light stays on. All 4 tires have 26 lbs of air. What is recommended tire pressure?

32 psi is the usual recommended pressure but you may have to fill the tires to 35 psi to make the TPM system reset. That's how most systems recognize that you have serviced the tires. Most TPM systems will indicate low tire pressure around 26-28 psi.

How do i reset the low tire pressure light

The only way to reset the low tire pressure light is to fill the tires to the recommended pressure. If all of the tires on the ground are at the proper inflation remember that the spare also has a pressure sensor so you will have to check it also. If one of the tire pressure sensors is damaged from remounting a flat or otherwise it will not send a signal to the low tire pressure module.

Low pressure light staying on .

the system will monitor all 5 tires. if one is 3-4 pounds differant or 1 of the tires are missing it will come on. doesn't matter what tires you have because the valve stem does the work.

Tire pressure light is on

You cannot reset them,Make sure that you check the pressures in the tires. The Infiniti Tire Pressure Monitoring System is designed to trip the warning light anytime the pressure in any of the tires drops below 29 psi. At 29 psi it really won't look like the tires are low. You could have one tire at 29 or 28 causing the light to stay on all the time. Check your pressures, set at 34 or 35 to be safe, or whatever pressure the tire is recommended to be. Not all infiniti vehicles with TPMS have the display that shows the pressure in each tire. If the pressures are above 29 psi, Then there could be an issue with one or more of the sensors. If you have the tires replaced you will have to have the sensors relearned at the dealer. Tire rotations do not require the same.

''Check Engine Soon'' light Stays On.

Must have engine computer scanned to get codes and determine cause of check engine light. Low tire light probably needs reset. Open passenger door and remove panel on side of dash. Reset switch should be located in that compartment.
