My transmission is having issues switching from 1st to 2nd gear and same issue from 5th to 6th. What happens, (when attempting to switch from 1st to 2nd) RPMs rev up high (as though it is in Neutral) then after 2-3 sec it shifts, car jumps crazy and in like 1 sec it shifts down (to 1st - RPMs jump) then shifts to 2nd gear and from there it is fine. 3rd to 4th, to 5th is great, but 5th to 6th same issue, not as extreme, but similar. If i let go of gas when it should shift to 2nd gear, and wait like 2 sec, it will be in 2nd gear without jerking - Normal. Sometimes in Park there is this noise as though something metal is hitting another metal part, and I can feel it in car - but it goes away and only happens from time to time. Also Neutral on rare occasion works as Reverse - super rare. I did Stall test (per Hyundai procedure Bulletin 13-AT-007) - no issues. Dealer ran diagnostic - no Codes in transmission. Flushed fluid - didn't help. I drained fluid again, put new fluid in and checked ATF level per 13-AT-006 - no difference. Tested Solenoids - no problem there. What could be an issue with my transmission?? 2012 Sonata GLS 2.4L with 7k miles.

SOURCE: car will not shift out of 1st gear

Did the 'Check Engine' Light come ON? Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on.
You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE and perhaps eventually fix the problem.

John Deer skidder 648GIII will not go into 5th or 6th gear, but will go into all other gears.

Check your linkages are tight. When you shift it into 5th or 6th, is it really moving or shifting it into 5th or 6th. I'd start there. If it appears to be pushing to 5th and 6th then the issue may be inside the tranny. Something worn, or blocking full travel.

1st 3rd and 5th gears are spongy to shift into

Start with the firs post and have those cables and linkage assembly looked at if those are good then what you have is a loose bolt on the transmission that bolt is responsible to keep the gear in place when loose the transmission will do what you described as well nothing more nothing less.

2003 chevrolet cavalier, manual transmission lost 2nd, 4th and reverse but still has 1st, 3rd and 5th gears.

Sounds like one of the levers inside the transmission is either broken or otherwise disengaged. Remove the shifter to see if you can see any obvious reason.

2nd gear drops hard

Dear Madam or Sir,

this is a well known problem with the Audi-transmissions, we do have a lot of failures with them over here in Germany. ;)

There are some software updates available, in many cases this fixed the problem.

Another possibility is a faulty transmission speed sensor, this is causing the hard shift behaviour.

First you should see the dealer to check the transmission control module´s trouble code memory and to check if there is a software update available for your car.

My ford focus tdi 2003 cant select 1st,3rd or 5th gears.

Car is in limp in mode unless you have the tools to work on automatic transmission you will need to take it to a transmission shop. Of course you can check oil level but I suspect you have other issues.

Transmission issues with 3rd and 5th gear

It's weird but it's the problem!!! There is a switch on the transmission near the selector, usually only affects 3rd gear!!! The switch is being distorted after repetitive battering with gear selection!!! I have experienced it and also read about it in australia on a Navara!!!
