Smoke from exhaust when decelerating on Ford F-350 Powerstroke

I have a 2001 Ford F-350 Powerstroke 7.3 Liter Diesel that is puffing bluish black colored smoke when you take your foot off the gas pedal. The slower the vehicle goes the more smoke comes out. The smoke smells like burning oil or burnt rubber. Does anyone have any idea what may be wrong so I can fix it?

I just had the CAC tubes, O-rings in Y-Pipes and the Carm Reman Pedestal Asy replaced a week ago. It was dripping oil severely then. Now not dripping, just smoking. I believe the turbo oil seal is what has already been replaced, so does that mean it would be narrowed down to the valve stem seals?

Either valve stem seals are leaking or the turbo oil seal is leaking.

Delica diesel '98 space gear 2.8 turbo diesel. We are second owner 180,000 km. Problem is black exhaust when first starting up and then once accelerating between 80 to 100 km/ph no smoke. When decelerating...

I think you have leaking injectors, after shut off raw fuel dips into cylinders and then on start causews the black smoke unitil it is burned off. Any dealer has the equipment to leak test the system.

How much should my Ford ranger 2.5td be smoking,is it normal for diesel engens to smoke.

Sometimes diesel engines will put out black smoke under extreme acceleration. Other than that, they shouldn't smoke. Black is excess fuel, White smoke is water and bluish is oil. White smoke on a cool morning is not necessarily a sign of a problem unless it happens every time you start it through a warm day. Hope this helps.

When truck gets warm it will not run over 45 mph

Puffing white smoke is a sign of a blown head gasket. Coolant is getting into the cylinders.

Ford Diesel glow plug relay goes out every year since 1993

The relay should cost about $35-45. A common Ford Starter relay can be used in place of the official glow plug relay. All that is required is a relay with terminals that have 5/16 or 3/8 terminals and can carry about 150-200 amps. When all 8 glow plugs turn on, it draws about 150 amps is all. There are two relays for the 7.3 diesel. One energizes the glow plugs and the other energizes a heating element in the air intake. That one is used to help eliminate white smoke while warming up and is turned on and off by the engine computer. It is usually only called for when the temperature is 20 degrees F or lower.
Otherwise only the glow plug relay works.
