Honda Odyssey dvd player not working after having battery jumped

DVD player says "Loading" on radio screen but it won't pull dvd's in to the compartment. Won't eject either. Tried disconnecting battery and I pulled out radio fuse and put radio code back in. Still no luck.
Dealer says we need a new dvd. Van only 2006.
Thank you!!!!!:)))

I had a similar prolem on my '06 Odyssey.

    I ask the following questions:

    1) When you turn on the ignition, is the DVD light on in the player?

    2) When you press on the eject button, does it make the sound as if it were trying to eject a disk? (a 'whirr" type sound)

    3) Is there a disk (or two) in the player?

The reason why I ask this silly sounding question is because that is exactly what happened with mine; My cousin inserted a second DVD in there, and just pushed and pushed, until neither of them would come out.

Let me know the answer to these questions and I will write up the solution.

I have the same problem on my 06 Odyssey also after a jump. The "Loading" message is just for a split second though and then disappears.

I disconnected the battery and left it that way overnight. I reconnected it in the morning and the dvd player worked perfectly. Thanks so much! My wife is incredibly grateful.

it might not be a fuse. there might be a radio code that you have to enter for it to start working

  • Anonymous Jun 01, 2013

you can get the code from your dealer

Disconnecting the battery for 1 hour also cured the problem of the DVD not playing / ejecting.

If you disconnect your battery for an hour and then reconnect, the dvd will just pop right out. This happened to us, Honda did not know how to fix it and they wanted me to pay $400 for a new one. But while they were trying to figure it out they were sticking screwdrivers and pens into it and have now broken the whole system and refuse to pay for it.

Hi I just got a 2005 honda odyssey last week, and when I tried to use the dvd player I found that there was a problem because it said loading but was kind of stuck, I wet to the dealer and they told me the only thing they could do was take the dvd out of the car and send it somewhere to be checked and it would cost $400 just to do that and fixing any problem they could find would be extra. So I looked for information in internet and I found this coment from 2009 but it was very helpfull I tried it and it works!!! Thank you!!

Thank you, Thank you! I also left my lights on, the battery died, than the dvd would not eject or play dvds. (2 dvd's were stuck...one originally stuck..and one that I stupidly stuck in "trying to fix the problem"...not realizing one was already in there. The dvd light was on but it wasn't working. I took it to the dealer today (before looking at this website..and I was told that it would cost $910 for parts and labor...needless to say... I did not fix it). I got home and found this website...disconnected the battery for 10 minutes, and was able to pry both dvd's out...b/c it was trying to eject them.. and now it works fine!!

I recently had my battery disconnected on my '06 Odyssey and the radio and dvd did not work then. I entered the code to unlock the radio but the dvd still would not work. I took the advice of others and disconnected the battery for over an hour (must be at least an hour) and the dvd worked again!!! Yeah!

Ok.....it seems like a lot of people get this problem after a battery problem or a jump. After taking care of your battery problem, pull the "radio" and leave it out for a couple of hours. Insert the fuse while the van is off, restart, and that should do it.

  • sunny2011 Apr 03, 2011

Thank You, Thank You, I had the same problem, my DVD player kept saying loading after the battery died and I had it jump started. I called Honda, they said it had nothing to do with the battery dying. I wasn't convinced, and then I found this site. I pulled the Radio fuse and left it out for over an hour and it was fixed! I'm so glad.

  • tgak43 May 20, 2011

I had the same situation with others and tried this after I was told by the dealer that the disk I used was bad for the player. Tried this and It just worked. I first waited 5 min or so after I pulled out the "radio" fuse, but it wasn't enough wait time. I next waited about an hour, then it worked. After I inserted the fuse and inputed the code, the player initialized automatically and spat the disk. Thank you for posting this helpful solution!!

Solution posted by ChefRitz worked perfectly on my 2005 Honda Odyssey Touring.
We took the van to dealership, they somehow managed to pull DVD out of drive but its scratched completely and player's body is scratched as well but the player still had DVD In light ON, they said it was broken and will cost $850 + parts n labor.
I fixed it after disconnecting battery for an hour, should have searched the net before going to dealer :(

Thank you! I tried removing the radio fuse for a few minutes but that didn't work. Seems weird but I waited an hour or so and tried again. I also made sure I had the keys in the ignition when I inserted the fuse. It worked!

Reset dvd player for honda odyssey

If your DVD player is acting up, a reset might solve the issue. Disconnect the battery and pull out fuse number five from the inside fuse compartment in the driver's foot area.
Let the fuse breathe for at least twenty minutes and the battery for a few hours and then put it back.

Dido. Dead battery replaced in Honda Odyssey, 2 codes entered, one for GPS, one for Radio/CD/DVD (I thought). Everything working except DVD - says "loading" all the time. Any solutions, anybody? I'd...

I got the solution from another website and tried it today for this problem. You need to pull the fuse for the radio (slot 5 on my Honda) and for probably over 20 minutes or so. When you do this, the DVD player resets upon re-inserting the fuse. The solution on another website said 1 hour but it didn't take that long, however, I tried pulling the fuse for about 5-10 minutes and it didn't work. There's nothing wrong with the fuse so you don't need to replace it but it just needs to be pulled for a while. Then go to your service record book in your glove compartment and re-enter your radio security code to bring the radio back online.

2007 honda odyssey dvd will not work or eject

We ran into this problem with our 2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L and followed Joed202902's instructions.

I'd recommend that you disconnect the battery terminals and let car sit for at least 45-60 mins. I tried it after 10-15 mins and it was not successful. After waiting 45-60 mins, reconnected the battery and DVD ejected no problem.

Dvd player not working on 06 Honda Odyssey

The Honda dealer just wanted to replace my entertainment center without even troubleshooting and I wasn't convinced that it was "broken" so I found the FIXYA website and saw that others had the same problem and I followed their instructions and it now works fine. I am going to call the Honda dealer to complain because they should have known this.

We simply pulled the fuse out and put it back in and then reset the radio code!

DVD player in honda odyessy won't eject disc or play

the first thing to check is the fuse associated with the dvd player. If it is blown then that is probably your problem. The fact that it blew means there is an electrical short somewhere that will need to be fixed. Otherwise, you will continue to blow fuses. If it is not blown then pull it out for 30 seconds and replace. Then try to operate your DVD.
