A no bu5 message appears on the dashboard

that message is probably "no bus" which means the instrument panel is not communicating with the body computer or engine computer.
It could be a bad connection in the wiring or a problem with the cluster.
You can do an internet search for "no bus" for details.

My 99 dodge durango has a 'no bu5' code on the mileage abd it wont start at all. how do i fix this?

No bus message on the instrument cluster mean's there is a serial data bus problem . All the module's (computers) on your vehicle are connected on the CCD data network . They share information on the network . A shorted bus wire , a module malfunctioning an bring down the network can cause modules not to send and receive data which would cause a no start .

2001 dodge ram 1500 5.9 4x4 motor turns over but will not start. ran fine the day before. the odometer reads no bus, check engine light comes on and gas gauge does not read now what could be causing...

First check is a look in the fuse box for a blown or loose fuse and also push all relays into their sockets. The check engine light shows that a trouble code is registered in the computer. Rent a scanner, read out any code(s), and pursue to repairs.

Airbag light comes on and shut odemeter and tack off. Then engine light come on and display reads no bu5. then all goes back to normal

You have a loose ground or a bad instrument panel connector, tracking down these kinds of issues is very expensive and time consuming. I must warn you that any thing you do that involves the airbag is very dangerous, and should not be attemped by anyone but the new car dealer with proper repair manuals and test equipment.
