Car just flat dies sometimes while driving. No particular time (though noticed it sometimes around 3000 rpms the CEL might blink), but even when stopped at a light sometimes it just dies. After it dies it won't get spark from the coil and I have to jump across the starter solenoid to get it going again.

I figured out what was going on. supposedly on ford rangers the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC Valve) goes bad. i got a trouble code looked it up and sure enough it is the IAC Valve. Under 100 bucks for the part

all I had to do on a sable was to replace the belt but look at the battery there should be a wire coming from the battery going to another solenoid mounted under the hood and then going down to the starter get a 12 volt tester and see if you have power going to this solenoid cause it could be dead on one end and not going down to the starter

Because the car has adaptive technology, it may take a while to reset and adjust to the new, cleaner and better conditions than those to which it had previously adapted.
Did you change the cap and rotor? if the plugs needed replacement, likely they do too
Possible other causes include:
loose or corroded connections to any electrical component you disturbed (make a checklist and tick them all off as you check them);
mis-reinstallation of any F.I. part disturbed(checklist again)
obstructed water flow through the AIC valve;
improper voltage output from the AIC valve (for LH 2.4 systems, should output 8 volt at idle, dropping as load increases; for LH 2.4.2 system output 7 volt at idle etc; testing between terminals)33 and 17 at disconnected LH connector;
possible problem with MAF.
Hope this helps

at least your problem is simple if all light turn on when you turn key and car dont start on the saab there is a 99% chance your fuel pump is bad replace that and enjoy your ride.

89 Saab 900s manual. Tried replacing ECU, ignition switch, tried another ignition wire, and none of these have worked.
