Brake light on the dash has just come on

The brake light on my 1996 Bonneville has just come on. The brakes are in working condition, the fluid level is down from the mark - what's up?

Hello, I have a 2002 Bonneville SLE and the BRAKE light is on and the dash says the fluid is low. However, the fluid levels are fine and the brake sensors have been replaced. What else could it be?

How low is the fluid level ? When disc brake pads wear , the master cylinder fluid levels drop normally. Brake operation will usually remain rather consistant , Most brake pads have warning sensors that squeal when your foot is off the brake pedal. have the brakes physically inspected. Hope this helps.

If your brake fluid is down it will cause the brake light to come on. If you fill the brake reservior, the light should go out. If it does then you should have the brakes checked for wear. As the brakes wear the fluid follows behind to fill the gap, thus low fluid. Let me know if this helped. Moe

Check the level of your brake fluid or your brake pads may be worn down and time to have them checked out.

Low fluid level in master cylinder reservoir can also illuminate the cluster brake light. If the level is low, refill and check for leaks.

My e brake light on the dash will not turn off. How do I get it to turn off?

Check your brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir. Low brake fluid level will light up that brake light also, not just the e-brake.

My brake light is on and it keeps ding ding dinging and its very anoying because the E-brake is off. my problem is i lost the cover for my fuse box under the dash, so i dont know what one to pull to stop...

First, do not attempt to bypass a safety related issue by pulling a fuse. The brake light and alarm signal is performing it's designed function by indicating a fault that needs to be corrected.

Check the brake system completely. The Brake fluid level sensor could be low. Now rather than just add fluid, keep in mind that the level may be low because the brakes are worn. Worn pads & shoes cause the calipers to extend which requires additional fluid, causing a "low" fluid level.

Also check to ensure the ABS sensors are OK.

Brake light on dash is on. What does it mean?

This Light Indicates 1 of 2 things, 1. Is the BRAKE FLUID Level is LOW, Or 2. That the Parking BRAKE is Applied. Check Fluid and Top Off If Needed, There is A LINE that Shows The PROPER Level.

It is either your hand brakes have gone bad or the brake system has gone faulty.

1996 T-100 dash brake light will not go out

The brake fluid level sensor in the master cylinder is stuck in the lower position which completes the circuit to illuminate the light.. Try tapping lightly on the side of the reservoir to loosen it. If that does not help, you will need to replace the level sensor.
