Park assist has stopped working

Four bolts - two near the pulley, one of which is bolted to a bracket from the intake manifold, a second one to the same bracket down behind the compressor, and the fourth one on the opposite end of the compressor from the pulley.
Good luck on this job. The engineers really created a mechanic's nightmare for this particular task!

It's plastic so just pulling it off is not just 4 bolts and it comes off. You have bolts screws and plastic clips to remove. May have to remove the grill headlights and inner fenders and under the car skid plate cover if it's still there. Then find any wires to unplug and then slip it forward and keep looking for screws holding till it comes off.

That's the model with the fob that fits in a slot next to the start/stop button, right?

Try pulling the fuse #27 under the glove box (double check that's the right fuse number) and see if that help.

If not, you can force the fob out by pulling it out with pliers and there's an issue with a piece of plastic falling off one of the lighted sides right inside the slot that can prevent the key from coming out.

After pulling the fob out (forcefully, if you must) look in there with a flashlight and pliers to fish that piece of broken plastic out.


Now, as for not getting it out of Park, that could be related, but there is an interlock that ties your brake pedal to the shifting mechanism too. Try tapping your brakes a bit and also have someone check that your brake lights work. If they don't, you might have a bad brake light switch and I *think* that switch also controls the shifter interlock.

What year, make and model?

The 1st things you need to do is have the engine control module scanned for fault codes and the fuel pressure tested for proper specs.

if you look at driver door jam. Either on the actual door or on the cars frame once the door is open. .youll see a sticker there telling the manufactures recommended tire size and tire pressures for front and back tires

Turn key to position 1
Push & hold trip odometer
turn key to position 2
Caution light will flash when reset
Release trip odometer

Look for hidden screws, around the edge of the door, inside the door pocket, under the pull close handle and 'in & around' the door handle lever.
Then with those successfully removed, the whole door card should slide either up, or in the door edge direction to remove.
Be careful not to be too heavy handed, as this will undoubtedly break plastic lugs/clips etc.
Then once you have removed the door card, familiarize yourself, with where & how it fits on to the door for reassembly.

it is on the outside of the transmission case

Simply hold down the button you want to use (there are 3 for up to 3 different garage doors) until the light flashes and keep holding it down. Now place the garage door opener up near the sun visor and hold it's button down until the light on the on button you are programming flashes. It is now programed. The other 2 are done the same way. Good luck. It took me a while to find the info, it's not in any Volvo manuals I could find.
