All engines depend on 3 things to run: air, fuel, and spark. For 2 of these things, there are filters. Changing the air filter is a really cheap and easy way to start. Then, change the fuel filter (a common cause for the problem you are describing) If you still have the same problem, chances are your spark plugs are not the problem, but it doesn't hurt to change them to complete your common problem troubleshooting. If the fuel filter is not the problem, you may be experiencing an engine control unit (a.k.a ECU) problem for which you will need a code reader. If you don't have one, your local mechanic surely will, or you can take the car to your local honda dealership where they can surely diagnose the issue for the price of one hour of shop time (in the USA, that's about $98).

if you have the 4 cyl they are located on the belt cover and the mark is on the drive pully, if you have a 6 cyl. the marks are on the block behind the belt cover, but the timing is set at TDC and is not adjustable.
