How do I remove the oil pan on my 2007 Chevrolet Uplander?

This is a very involved project. Here is what the manual says:

Oil Pan Replacement Oil Pan Replacement Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Install the engine support fixture.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.
4. Drain the crankcase.
5. Remove the right front tire and wheel.
6. Remove the right front splash shield.
7. Remove the wheel speed sensor harness from the right suspension support.
8. Remove the right front ball joint, bolt, and nut. Separate the ball joint from the steering knuckle.
9. Remove lower closeout panel.

Remove the air conditioning (A/C) compressor bolts and position the compressor aside.

10. Remove the braces that support the engine to the transmission.
11. Remove the starter.
12. Disconnect the oil level sensor.
13. Remove the retainers that secure the brake line to the frame.
14. Remove the right side engine mount nuts and bolts.
15. Loosen the left side cradle bolts.
16. Remove the frame bolts from the right front and the right rear.

Remove the oil pan side bolts.

17. Remove the oil pan bolts.
18. Remove the oil pan.
19. Remove the oil pan gasket.

Remove old filter watch it it full of oil after remove the bolt holding the adaptor clean it in new seal reinstall

Typically, there's a "plug" bolt on the bottom of the oilcan which ought to be located at the bottom of the engine. This needs to be removed (careful, as oil will begin pouring out as soon as you remove it). Have an adequate pan/container already located underneath and try not to let the bolt get pushed right into it.

There will also be an oil filter screwed into the side of the engine near the top of the pan. This should be replaced, too. Then you'll need to have enough oil to replace all that you drained, which is added to the oil input spout near the top of the engine, under the hood.

It's best to have the engine/oil warmed up a bit (but not too hot to risk burning yourself if it gets on you), as this will encourage more of the old oil to drip out. Let it do so far awhile before you add the new oil.

I would advise getting a second opinion A mechanic told me my 92 Le sabre 's tranny was shot and when I took it to another mechanic he found my spark plug wires were shorting out and causing the car to down shift when you went up a slight incline and it would jump in and out of different gears. I replaced the plugs and wires myself and it rau like new.

u really need a haynes manual from a part store--some models require engine to b lifted-dont force anything------library has mechanics books too----also dont go to a dealer-much bettr off at a private mech whos done this stuf bfore

My 07 uplander jerk hard into gear when I take off from a dead stop is it because my transmission is over filled

Usually if you check the Oil dip stick position that the pan should be underneath that part of the dip stick of the engine.

2006 uplander, there maybe a cover to remove to get to the oil pan, lets see if i can find a picture of the drain plug.okay im not sure the engine size in this uplander but they all should be about the same, here are some diagrams to help you locate the oil filter and oil pan drain plug. the oil filter is located from under the engine on the driverside behind the ac compressor, the oil drain plug is located on the bottom of the oil pan on the pass/side. heres a diagram of the two . hope this helps.

Not a problem. Comes on based on miles, so you should also change the oil. But you need to manually reset the counter.

With the ignition key in RUN but the engine off, repeatedly push the trip/reset button until OIL is displayed on the Driver Information Center (DIG).
Once “OIL” is displayed, push and hold the trip/reset button for five seconds.
The number will disappear and be replaced by 100 (indicating 100% oil life remaining).
Turn the key to OFF. If the “CHANGE ENGINE OIL” message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset.
Repeat the procedure.
