(30 amp) fuse blows for the radio amplifier on my 1998 Lincoln Continental. The ignition is off and key out. Disconnected the amplifier located in the trunk and fuse still blows. Any suggestions.

The (10 amp fuse) labeled radio is fine but radio does work

SOURCE: how to get into trunk w/o keys and trunk opener. Keys are locked in trunk and button inside car is locked.

Using your keyless entry on the keypad, press the 5 digit code to get into the door and press the 6 key immediately after. Lincoln has several codes in addition to the 5 digit keyless entry like pressing the 3 to open all the doors, the 6 for the trunk and pressing the last 2 buttons at the same time to lock the doors.

SOURCE: replace rear brake light bulb 1998 lincoln continental

pop the trunk and right behind where the lights are pull the carpet down and their will be of the following depending on the trim.

You will either see the light sockets themselves that you can twist and pull to change the bulb, or you will see the plastic nuts/screws that you can remove to remove the entire assembly in order to access the bulbs.

If it's your 3rd brake light, the screws to access the housing are located in the upper part of the trunk

Fuse number eleven keeps blowing on 1998 lincoln conttenial what works that fuse

The equipment connected with this fuse is listed as the Ignition coils, the radio interference capacitor, the PCM relay and the passive Anti-theft System Module.

I think I would replace the PCM relay as it is the only part listed which has moving parts inside. In addition, you can check if the PCM relay is the same part as the Horn relay and use the horn relay in place of the former PCM relay. If your short goes away, then you know the old PCM relay was bad.

If the fuse breaks before you crank the engine, you could disconnect the coils and see if the fuse still breaks.

The radio capacitor, you need a little better diagram to identify this wire and when disconnected, you would know if the fuse breaks or not.

If its the anti-theft, then that is more complicated to solve. Test all the other stuff first.

Please let me know what you find.
