Many newer cars will not start if the clutch pedle is not depressed , could be the safety switch not working.
Otherwise , maybe the starter / solenoid you put in is either not working , or not all wires hooked up. Need 3 wires. 1 big one from battery , 1 big one to starter motor , 1 small guage triger wire from the ignition key.
To check your starter , make sure car is in neutral and use a metal object to jump between the two big posts on the solenoid. if the engine turns over , the starter is good. Next jump power from battery to small post on solenoid , if engine turns over , solenoid is good too.
Hope this helps.

2006 jeep wrangler automatic transmission drifts in park

I can't imagine how the drifting in park and the starter won't crank the engine could be related.
It is possible something happened to the flywheel and it is not now connected to the crankshaft, or the bendix gear on the starter is not engaging the flywheel.
But the transmission has a pawl or gear that locks the output shaft of the transmission when the shifter is in park. That gear could be damaged and would allow the truck to roll in park.
And the parking gear would not have anything to do with the starter issue.
I think I would check to see if the flywheel is connected to the crankshaft first.
Is the truck still under warranty ??

2000 jeep wrangler wont start

If it won't crank, check clutch safety switch and cables for the starter.
If it cranks but won't start, you'll need to find out if it is ignition or fuel to know where to look next.

95 jeep wrangler 4.0,won,t start,dash lites won,t go on.replaced starter relay.still won,t turn over.

Try checking the battery and battery leads. Sounds as though you have a bad battery. Also check your fuses under the hood and dash.

My wife and I recently purchased a 91 wrangler with a 2.5. It has trouble starting, turns over very slow but always seems to start. Battery seems to be fine and appears to be a new starter. HELP

you said the starter looks new, if so check to make sure the starter bolts are tight on both sides if the starter gets cocked sideways it will put a bind on the starter. Also take your vehicle to Autozone they will check the battery for free....If it is a everstart take it back to wall mart it will have a 3 to 5 yr. warenty on this battery.

91 ford ranger 2.9 super cab: Starter keeps turning/cranking

With fords you have to have to battery tip top condition (a must).
Now when you refer to the starter solenoid, are you talking about the relay on the passenger side fender well. If so, start there.
With the starter wire or trigger wire disconnected, Start running your tests.
Find out if its something to do with the trigger wire or if it has to do with the relay.

2006 Jeep Wrangler won't start

First, make sure you can turn the engine by hand. If you can't then the starter can't turn it either. Have someone else turn the key and look for the source of the click...may be a relay. Go over the starting circuit with a volt meter. Check for power at the starter main terminal and then with the key turned to "start" check for power at the trigger terminal on the starter. Check battery voltage and check relay operation.
You have a neutral safety switch on the transmission if its an automatic and a clutch switch if it's a stick. Check them as well. Make sure battery grounding on fender and block are also clean and secure.

1991 jeep wont start

Did you replace the coil because it wouldn't start before? If it ran before, there must be a mis-connection somewhere. I assume by your stating that 'it turns but will not crank', to mean that the engine will crank over with the starter but won't start and run. True?
