SOURCE: 1999 Audi A4 Locking mechanism

It sounds like the vacuum pump has gone out. The locks are vacuum-pump operated, and they're known to eventually fail on these and VW cars. Check that out - in my 99, the unit is in the trunk, passenger side. You have to remove the storage well between the wheel arch and the taillight, and pull the carpeting back, and the unit is down there just a bit below floor level.

SOURCE: 2003 audi a4 1.8t ECU/emission control system warning light flash

No I am a mechanic at Audi. The problem is that the the air flow to the central tappets may be causing the air flow sensor to trip and that is why. Try putting a small amount of WD40 into the petrol and that will work, its a very common problem.

I Have an Audi A4 1.9 tdi

Sounds to be a security problem. Check or replace the battery in the key first. After that. It has to go on a scanner. You might want to get it to an Audi dealer for this. I have several scanners that tell me codes, but I can't do the Audi security.

Audi A4-how do i know if my alternator is bad or

START engine and turn on head lights to main beam if engine stops and battery is flat then the Alternator isent putting out 13.5 volts or 12volts so then turn off lights and turn on inn and with a test light check power lead on Alternator if you have power to alt then you have either Reg or brush problem .
Take it off and get it tested and if slightly faulty then get a change over one and refit start and recheck your head lights as they should come bright when engine runs evan at idle .
ITS that easy

this might be a shot in the dark but what I have found is often if a car is let sit for a time varmits<mice ,squirls ,ext> will make a meal of some wiring. disconnect battery and give car a good looking over for wires with chew marks, I have had to repair harnesses just under the throtle body several times on new cars off our dealership lot.

Car will turn over but not start.97 audi a4 1.8

It sounds like you don't have quite enough juice to start it. Sometimes vehicles will turn over but won't start when battery is low. Have someone jump you with jumper cables and I bet it will start then have your battery tested. If it won't start try giving it a shot of starter fluid as well as jump starting it and this will probably do the trick. If not you will have to have it diagnosed professionally. Good Luck
