Engine light problem on 2004 Mitsubishi Colt 1.1

We have a 1.1 2004 Mitsubishi Colt that has an engine light fault.

The check engine light usually comes on after the car has been parked (after use) for 30 mins and when restarted the light comes on and there is little or no throttle response and car won't move, ''Limp home mode?''. If we turn car off and wait 5-10 mins the car will restart and run OK but engine light stays on. If car is left for a long while the light will not come on when restarted but the fault will return after 4-5 days.

Can anyone please shed some light on what the problem is as the local main dealer says they can't do nothing unless we turn up with the light on. As is usual with these things the problem happens at weekends or evenings.

2006 mitsubishi colt v6 d/cab. enjin warning light is on and on start upit has uneven idling.

Tune up, plugs, wires, coil, or distributor depending on year. You will have to have a autozone clear the check engine light with a code scanner, they usually will do it for free. Otherwise a mechanic or maybe a neighbor who has a code scanner. But you may get charged by mechanic. Around $10-20.

I have a Mitsubishi colt 2006, today when I was reversing from a car park the wheel was (is) very heavy and hard to turn I also notice the ESP light is on. I thought it might be the power steering fluid...

The power steering pump is usually a black box with a round bottom. The fill cap on top of the pump is about the same size as the oil fill cap, but it has a dipstick mounted on the inside. It is driven by a belt, so it will be on the passenger side of the engine. It is often mounted lower on the engine.

I'd like to give you the page reference in the owner's manual, but the Mitsubishi website only provides manuals to owners (you sign up on the website to get access).

If the power steering pump is driven by a separate belt, check the belt tension.

My 2006 mitsubishi colt check engine light comes on and the accelerator pedal is giving no power and the car limps when this happens, then the car goes fine again?

There are many emission sensors in the car that will make the engine light come ON. Not to mention the big list of trouble codes for the engine light. The engine light code will give you a big clue of what's causing the accelerator pedal problem.

Best way to find out what's going on engine light is to have an auto-parts store hook up a engine code reader and tell you what the code means and the problem. Most auto-part store will do this for free.

Check engine warning light

have you taken it in to be diagnosed? usually car shops will hook it up to their diagnostic machine to tell you what the "code" means and why the engine light is on. they also can re-set it for you, to see if it comes back on or not. only takes a minute.

2004 Mitsubishi Colt 1.1 Engine management light & code P0122

My girlfriends car has just started with the same problem, a limp home from the garage, a sleep over night and als well next day, for a while... I spoke to Mitsubishi and they have told me the TPS (throttle positioning sensor) is on the accelorator pedle assembly. There PN for this is MN125791 and its circa £88 + VAT. After exhausting all other options I may attempt this replacement and will advise the results.
