Clutch works fine just can't get it out of reverse. can drive the car around only in reverse. is there an adjustment on the transmission as far as shift levers or is it the syncro's possible between 1st and reverse? thanks al
Is the stick moving? or is it 'stuck' in the reverse position as well? There are adjustments but it seems more likely that your 'stick' has come unstuck from the gear levers that actually put the gears in the right spot. Have someone look at the transmission while you move the stick to see if the levers are moving and put your response here.
Usually that indicates that something has come apart in the linkage and is jamming the levers. I would remove the boot from the shift lever and look at the linkage at the bottom of the shift lever. You may find that the pin holding the reverse lever to the linkage has slipped out and is jammed against the next gear lever over, If this is the case just slide it back into place and tighten it. If you don't have the know how to get the boot off, then try pressing down hard on the lever and to the right and try and get it to slide past, the adjoining lever, realizing that if you don't fix it it will stick the next time you go into reverse as well.
