You may have some water in the tank. Normally it is below the pickup, but fueling stirs it up. Have a mechanic loosen the fuel line at the motor, shake the car, and then pump some fuel to test for water.

SOURCE: My 2005 Outlander won't start. It turns over, but

The first step you have to take is to determine if you have an ignition or fuel problem. You must do this to know which direction in testing to go. After you find out which problem you have check your fuses and fuse links with a test light to make sure all circuits are working from that point. After that depending on your confidence in dianognostics and experience in auto repairs you may want to take the car to a shop or let us know the results that you get from the checks then we can guide you on which tests to run next.

SOURCE: 2003 mitsubishi outlander won't start. It has gas

If that is the problem, then the engine is in serious need of weather-proofing. Is the 'check engine' light lit? If so, have the problem code(s) read out with a scanner. That will give you the clues needed to find your problem.

2004 Mitsubishi Outlaner will not start after getting gas. has happened 4 times in last 5 months.

After getting gas, you mean after refueling? but will start after sitting for a while? I would be checking the Injector leak down/fuel pressure regulator OR catlic converter.
