My 1995 Chrysler New Yorker is over heating with a new water pump and a new radiator... What can be the problem? It has just over 184,000 miles on it.

I did replace the thermostat and the radiator is cold when the car overheats. I was told that the fan only kicks on when it gets too hot.

There is some kind of blockage in the engine. you may need to take the water pump apart agin. may sure the path from the water pump to the engine is clear. use a water hose and shot water into the engine when you have the water pump off the car. if water comes out, then the problem is either the water pump is defective of the thermostat is installed backwards.

1993 chry, new yorker water pump location and

look on the side where all of your belts are your water pump will be housed behind a pulley. look for your lower radiator hose it attaches to the water pump housing this will give you a good idea where its located. if you have all of the proper tools you could do it in about 1 hour to 1and a half hrs.
