My transmission will not shift into any gears with the engine running and clutch fully depressed. It will shift into all gears without the engine running. I have to place the transmission in first gear, then start the engine before I can dive. Can speed sift thru all gears no problem There are no noises coming from transmission, all is quiet [email protected]

Check the fluid level on your clutch slave cylinder. Have someone depress the clutch while visually observing the movement of the levers under the hood. Could also be a bad throwout bearing.

Is clutch release linkage working? Installing clutch disc backwards will do this too. With engine off, put in gear, depress clutch pedal and turn engine by hand to see if clutch is still dragging.
You can test the clutch hypothesis. Carefully put the car in gear for a safe direction, then depress the clutch and turn over the engine. If the car lurches, then the clutch is not working. In this case, check the linkage to the clutch, or if yours is hydraulic, check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder. If the cylinder is low, then don't stop by just filling it, you want to find out where the fluid went. Look for leaks - especially around the clutch slave cylinder.
If on the other hand your engine it starts with the transmission in gear and the clutch down without lurching, then try letting the clutch out slowly. With any luck you have it running and in gear. See what happens next. Good Luck!
Either the clutch has failed, or something inside the transmission has broken. Can you shift gears with the engine running and not depressing the clutch ? Can you put the transmission in first gear and move the car by hand ?
Then there is a serious problem with the clutch. turn the engine off and engage a gear and try and roll the truck, do it feel like it is in gear? if not the clutch is either defective or the transmission input shaft is broken
Reverse the procedures to complete the installation.
Clutch Start Switch
CAUTION Before replacing the clutch switch
or any component connected to the vehicle's control computer,
disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
After replacing the switch, slowly work the clutch pedal and note
any unusual noises or interferences with pedal movement.
If the switch is adjustable, make sure the clutch pedal height and
push rod (free) play are correct.
Then check the release point of the clutch.
Begin by engaging the parking brake and installing wheel chocks.
Start the engine and allow it to idle.
Without depressing the clutch pedal, slowly shift the shift lever
into reverse until the gears contact.
Gradually depress the clutch pedal and measure the stroke distance
from the point the gear noise stops (this is the release point) up to
the full stroke end position.
If the distance is not within specifications, check the pedal
height, push rod play, and pedal free play.
If the distance is correct, check the clearance between the switch
and the pedal assembly when the clutch is fully depressed.

Loosen the switch and adjust its position to provide for the
specified clearance.
Adust clutch cable.Test...start the car in first gear with clutch fully depressed, parking break off. Slowly release the clutch. determine when the vehicle starts to move. If clutch is fully depressed call that 100%, fully released is 0%. The vehicle should be moving at around the 55-45% range.
The clutch is the part that can connect or disconnect the engine from the transmission at any time when depressed through friction plates. It allows you to easily shift between gears and allows you to start or stop the car motion without having to start and stop the engine.
clutch slave cylinder IS FULL
WHEN YOU START ENGINE IN GEAR WITH CLUTCH DEPRESSED, CAR WANTS TO MOVE AHEAD, AND IS HARD TO PULL SHIFTER OUT OF GEAR
Does the clutch pedal still have the same "feel" or does it just go to the floor easily?
