Sometimes the lid get twisted. You can open the lid and with one arm pull down on the side that is up and using the other arm push up, twisting the lid a little. That should level it. There are also rubber stops that turn up and down that help adjust it. But I would try twisting it first since thats how it got missed aligned.

SOURCE: convertible top will not retrack

Hi Stan

First of all the roof is not even soppose to operate while the trunk is open - So there is the first problem Ive been involved with BMW's for a long time and this is the first Ive heard of a roof opening while the trunk is open. There is a built in feature that tells the car not to open the roof if the trunk is open and the other way roung while the roog lid is open the trunk cant open.

The reason the roof is not working anymore as soon as there is stress on the roof the electric motors(One operates the roof and the other operates the roof lid)  disengages, You said that the roof still worked but the lid did not so probably only the one motor disengaged. So what you have to do is open the trunk on the left hand side right behind the tail light pull away the material and simply just push the electric motor into place. that should fix your problem.

It may happen that the two motors have become out of sync, Disengage both electric motors manualy put the roof away engage the motors and that should put the roof and lid back into sync.

SOURCE: Trunk lid pops open when

I will do it in my own way since the wiring is messed up, and when i press close on my Remote, the trunk pops open. I will Harness this problem to benefit me since my remote does not have a trunklid switch. I will route the Motor (that has a piston) wire through the switch relay (located just above the vehicle ID plate area), so that opening the trunk lid is only possible when i keep pressing the trunk open swich (on the trunk lid) while at the same time pressing the close/LOCk button on my remote.

Occasionally trunk lid won't lock on my a8 2006. When closing the lid is lifted a little on right hand side before falling into place. Even if I turn the central locking on the lid OFF it will open...

The locking mechanism either needs replacing or cleaning and lubricating but more often than not it's likely the striker pin needs readjusting to bring the lid fully shut.

Top will not close clk 430 mercedes benz

did you recently have a dead battery? Either way try to resynchronize your windows (i'm not sure if you meant front window or rear quarter window). If you hold the window switch in the up position(car running and door closed) untill window reaches the top and continue to hold for 10 seconds the window will reprogram itself. try both front windows. This system is complicated and is best diagnosed via s.d.s. diagnostic machine. I will give you a couple of other possible easy remedies. If your vehicle is equiped with a ski window in the rear trunk panal the door must be shut, also your cargo cover must be shut and plastic lid secured. There are numerous micro switches that input to your soft top control unit-any one could cause the top to be inop. Check to make sure the switch on the cargo cover( retractable cover in trunk) is secured to it's housing, they do periodically fall off. Also if your roll bar ( rear head rests ) has been mechanically deployed You must hold the switch in the up position untill the rams lock back into the roll bar-does the roll bar operate? Always operate top with vehicle running because they are very voltage dependent. Your owners manual will explain how to manually raise top and some simple operation and repair remedies. If you are knowledgable about automotive electrical systems you can disconnect both leads from the battery and touch them together to drain the capacitors and it may reset the module( do not attempt if you are not knowledgable with automotive electricity because there are many things that can go wrong. hopefully I have been helpful.

I have a 1999 Mercedes S320, Do you know how the trunk and doors will automatically compress when you close them. For example when I close my trunk it is suppose to compress tightly once I manually close...

There are 2 pneumatic pumps in your vehicle. one is vacuum and is for your central locking, located under your rear seat bench. The other is pressure and is called your closing assist pump. It is in the trunk behind the rear liner. It also operates you reverse antennas(optional). Your doors and trunk lid are closed by pressure valves that work like little teeter totters. There is an updated relay called a convenience relay located in the right side of the trunk. It stores all the window paramers(for express up and down) as well as your closing assist parameters. In the right side of the trunk there is a fuse box. If you remove the closing assist fuse( I beleive it is # 15) for 15 seconds and then reinstall it, the parameters for your closing assist will be reset. It is possible that your vehicle already has the updated relay(called a relay but actually a microprocessor) and there is a leak in the system. After reinstalling the fuse you can see what doesn't work( one of the doors or trunk, reverse antenna) and isolate the faulty component. If everything works o.k. let it be because they have always been problematic and when they happen to fail just reset it. hopefully I have been helpful.

Trunk will not latch?? or stay shut

I bought some grease and sprayed all the trunk latch pieces but then I found out the problem. On the bottom part of the latch [not the lid but the attached part] there is a spring that has a rubber pad that has to be compressed when the lid closes to completely latch. I noticed the side of the latch on the trunk lid had scratches from the latch slipping past the rubber pad on the spring. The solution was easy. I took a screw driver and wedged the padded area so it would make direct contact and now it latches just fine.

1995 lincoln town car trunk will not automatically shut

There is a black flat switch handle immediately to the right side of the latch. Press that switch handle and the latch will make a noise and rise slightly. Then when you shut the deck, the switch activates and recesses, pulling the deck lid down to the fully closed position.

Hope this helps
