just had this on my 2007 2.0 did outlander, replaced the egr throttle body which cleared fault code p0487 which i also had, but p0488 was a little more tricky to find out what it was, after searching the internet i checked the fuses, sure enough a 15a fuse had blown, about 6th from the right as you look at the fuse box with an engine symbol identifyng it. changed the fuse cleared the fault code job done, it seems a broken egr throttle body will blow this fuse according to my research. hope this helps someone.
