is there any way fan motor could get hot and stop working??,.... or motor should work always or just never work???

hope I made myself clear on this comment

The rad fan is required to keep your engine at a normal operating temp. When you are going at hiway speeds the fan is not needed. When you stop then the fan has to operate to keep the engine cool.If the fan is not operating, it could be the fuse or fan relay or temp sensor or computer This problem should be checked by someone who is a professional..

Hi,Moe here. It may be possible that the fan motor itself maybe the problem. If you go to someone for help, ask them to check if the fan operates properly. This can be done by jumping power and ground to the fan motor directly. If the fan operates o/k then you probably have a control problem. One question, did the fan start operating normal and just quit or is this problem been occuring often? Let me know, I will check back on the 14th..

You have made yourself very clear. It seems that the cooling fan motor has a mind of itsown. To know that the fan motor is the problem is to have the condition repeat and then apply direct power to the motor and see if it works. The motor is an electrical winding and can fail when it gets hot.It can also work when it is cooled off. Get at least 2 estimates before having it repaired. Shop time to replace cooling fan motor should be about 1 hour.

My honda civic 1999 sir overheats when I turn on the air con.

If your car is getting Overheat when you turn the air conditioner On, it means that you need to repair your compressor or it will need to be replaced.

It could also be that if your car has a 2nd or separate radiator fan that should come on when the car is either hot OR when the A/C is on - perhaps it is NOT coming on and thus your car overheats. If your car does have a 2nd fan, check to see if it is coming on when you turn on your air conditioner.

Also, I would check that your radiator fan is on (even if it has only one electric fan) when the car temperature is getting near the HOT zone. At some point, the fan should come on to help circulate the air through the radiator vents and help cool the coolant (water) in the radiator.

In short, make sure your fan(s) are working okay. If not, that could be causing your car to overheat too.

Tell us news (remember rated this).

Changed radiator on94 honda civic now car

verify the plug of the fan and the fan switch located in termostat housing, if all are pluged in remove the conector of fan switch and short it with little piece of cable, if fan turn on replace the switch! it cost around $20. if the fan no turn on when short the conector verify if the fan conector have 12v if have it changer the fan motor if not check the fuse.

1993 Honda Civic rapid heating

Sounds like your electric cooling fan(behind the radiator) is not functioning. The thermostat might not be working, making the fan
not come on at all. I once put a toggle switch in my dash, when I had
an old CRX, just to turn on the fan, or it would overheat.

I have a 2003 honda civic after I ride it for

Check fluid level when vehicle is cold. When it starts to overheat open the hood and make sure the radiator fan is blowing. If all this is OK then your thermostat may be bad.Look under the car when it overheats for leaks also.

My radiator fan dose not come on. it overheats. honda civic

Go to www.autozone.com & get a wiring diagram & a component location for the colling fan temp sensor. When the engine is hot or you turn the a/c on you should have power to the fan. If not, check the fuses under the hood, those are the mains. Write back if you need more.
